My son's high school, Lancaster Mennonite, is performing Les Miserables as their spring musical. Luke just text messaged me that he just heard that he has been given the role of Inspector Javert.

Right now he is in rehearsals for The Robe, which they are performing in February. He is playing Caligula.

He will have a fun time for the rest of the school year.

I like the book, the Robe. I read it many years ago. I like the song about it, too.
Glad your son is happy, about his role in Les Miserables.

Sounds like our sons would get along! Theatre is a major part of his life.

Since starting high school my son has been in Westside Story, Assassins, Beauty and the Beast, Miss Saigon, Aida, Sweeney Todd Concert Edition, Proof, One Acts and An Evening of Ten Minute Plays. He has been cast two spring productions: Art, and, Little Women.

Congratulations to your son! That's a great part! My son was in musicals all 4 years of high school too: Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, Man of LaMancha and Meet Me in St. Louis. He's studying theater in college now.

That's great! My son had that role his senior year (2003). His younger sister was Fiona. It was a wonderful challenge for a year in our small high school with a particularly gifted senior class.

BTW the book by Victor Hugo behind the musical truly deserves the label "classic". I read it before watching the musical and it was wonderful to dip into real literature. It has several subplots that are left out of the theater/film versions.
