Adding my b'day greetings to Terri's, too. Saw your name earlier, but then this crazy thing was letting me read about one post/5 minutes or more, so left the web. Tonight it's not much better, so no usual pictures accompany.

But be blessed, anyway. ;)

Hope you have a wonderful day.

It was a rather different day than the one I had planned. I try to take it easy on my birthday - sleep in, watch cricket, get fast food.

I had early morning phone calls from tradesmen because of the recent fire at our church, meetings with them at the church, visited an 88 year old church lady in hospital (I'm so glad I did that), and then was (temporarily) not well enough to go out to dinner with my wife and good friends. Also, Brad Mercer was much on my mind that day.

Yes, Steve, I know exactly how it is. Sometimes, we just don't have what it takes to do everything that is expected of us.
My husband left the house about 5:20 A.M. and got home around an hour or an hour an a half, ago It is nearly 6:20 p.m. A member of the church we atternd, needed to be at the hospital early for a heart test. Then they want you to lay still about four hours, then sty a little longer, until you can walk better. Being retired from the pastorate does not always cut down on what you do, when you still live near by.

I remember (before we used cell phones), running around to different hospitals in Memphis, to visit people, and then running by to check on an elderly lady, before we got home. An old charter member was very upset, because she had not been able to get in touch with us, to tell us that a church member had suddenly had a heart attack and died. All we can do, is so our best. God understands.
So, we got an answering machine, but that would not have helped in this particular situation. And, when one's heart is heavy, it makes them tired, also.
