That reminds me of an incident from early in my teaching career. The students were presenting a Christmas program with all grades participating. Instead of having all the students in the auditorium, we stayed with them in different classrooms and a runner came to tell us when to go to the stage.

After a considerable period of time had passed, we sent someone down to the auditorium to find out why we weren't being called. There was to be a short PTA meeting prior to the program and it turned out that two warring factions in the PTA decided this was the night for their side to prevail. By the time the kids finally got to perform, the audience wasn't in the best of moods and the kids were higher than kites.
