Is it safe to have a boat frozen in the river? Does the river really freeze that well? I always thought the climate was a little more mild in the Netherlands. Still, some great pictures.

Usually, it will be possible to skate on rivers like this one for a few days during any given winter. A winter when even the cars could drive on the ice is a long time ago, the only one I recall was the winter of 1963.
In normal winters, the boat will survive though it think it's not in a very good state of maintenance.
