....I like action movies.....and saw " The Bourne Supremecy " a couple of years ago while on vacation. I later saw the " Bourne Identity "......and for Christmas bought " The Bourne Ultimatum ". I have watched all 3 movies the last few days........and really enjoy the fast paced action and the intense chase scenes. All of the movies would be better on wide screne.....but I'll gladly settle for having them on DVD and watching them for personal entertainment.

I had seen the Bourne Identity a few years ago, but this week, I have also watched all three chapters in the trilogy.
The chase scenes are special and I really appreciate that the main killer is trained to be a cold-blooded killer, but gets on the wrong side of the 'bad guys' because he is unable to murder a man in front of the man's children.

The sad part of the movies is that they dropped the part that made the book truly special in my opinion. Anyone that has read the book can easily identify that the major twist was not in the movies, I kept hoping they would introduce it because it could have been done later. I enjoyed the movies, good action scenes and decent plots. But, I was really disappointed that they dropped the twist. I remember when I discovered it in the book that I felt that the author had really led me down the wrong path so intently, he must have been chuckling every time a "sucker" bought the book. Anyone else read the first book and feel that way?

but I enjoyed the first two movies on TV. I was very tempted to buy the last DVD when it came out, but I'm on the Dave Ramsey "rice and bean" diet" and couldn't fit it into my budget. : )

I haven't read the books or watched the movies, but I am nearly always disappointed in a movie when I read the book first. A movie just can't include everything that is in the book so they always leave something out. Sometimes what they leave out is what made the book so good.

...as a former English teacher , I also find it disappointing when I read a book and then see the movie based on the book. Usually the movie is a disappointment simply because a movie cannot do full justice to the wonder of a good book. I have read several of the Bourne novels ........but , in the case of the Bourne movies , I actually enjoyed the movies as much as I did the novels ( Ludlum tended to write his novels on the same formula ).
Two instances of movies/ mini series that did not disappoint me were:
1." The Spy That Came In From The Cold."....I first read the novel....then saw the movie...and then re read the book. The movie version was excellent ( with Richard Burton as the main character ).
2. P.B.S. had an exceptional mini series several years ago based on John Le Carre's novel " Tinker, Tailor, Soldier. Spy ". It was British production.....starring Alex Guiness......and was one of the best productions I have ever seen.
3. I continue to be impressed by the mini series based on Larry Mc Murtry's book " Lonesome Dove ". Personally , I think " Lonesome Dove " may well be one of the best novels written in many years. I read it again about every other year and discover new insights and human personality issues that amaze me. The mini series based on the novel was excellent......and continues to be admired as one of the best mini series that television has ever produced.
There may be other novels/movies that satisfy. But I have found only a few movies that have the kind of impact that a good book has.

I love to read the books first, then the movie, although it does not always work out that way. Just in this case, I thought they left out the absolute part that really made the books worth reading to me! It changes your whole perspective and was just so good. It easily could have fit in the movie, and maybe if they had revealed it in the third movie it could have still worked. Instead, we get the anti-government version that Hollywood would rather have anyway... Oh well.

Speaking of books & movies not aligning sufficiently to suit pre-movie book readers, BTDT. However, what reading this thread did bring to mind is the book I helped edit. It's current enough & action-packed enough that we kept thinking, while editing it, that it would make one great movie ... well, at least a good interest-holding one. ;)
To avoid this some-things-were-left-out-that-just-should-not-have-been, I've said that I'd love to help do a screen version of it ... [not bragging, but have written before & been told my dialogue is good a few times]. Who knows ... maybe one of these days.
