Would you be interested in attending a Photography workshop or Photo shoot with a bunch of other Naznetters?

I'm starting to look at the possibility of organizing a photography workshop/photo shoot sometime this next year.

I've been a professional photographer for over 25 years. I've taught classes to a wide range of ages (10-90 years old). I've done courses for colleges/tech schools from newby to advanced classes. I taught the Zone system for several years to art students.

It's been suggested that there might be enough interest to setup a workshop/photo shoot for Naznetters. Right now it looks like we'd hold the class somewhere in the West or Southwest with dates still being up in the air.... Cost is yet to be determined, the more people that attend the lower the cost.

Post a reply if you might be interested!

I might be able to do it if it were in the midwest. My vacation time and money is pretty well all planned for this year.

Yes, but somehow I think Hannie might have some objections if I say I wanted to spend some $ 1000 to fly to the USA to do a photography workshop. I fear she'd be right too. :basic04

Joel..how about shooting for 2009 with your vacation plans??????????????
and not in high summer please
spring is best for wildflowers and fall for Colorado Aspen

I visited with Jon..and would you consider Arches??
located at Moab Utah, off of Interstate 70 (about 6 hrs drive west of Denver)

http://www.utah.com/nationalparks/arches.htm

I can assure this park would be phenomenal
experience, even without a camera..hint
bring your spouses..they would also enjoy the adventure

I encourage you to think big and live large and if you do venture into
Arches, or THE WAVE

http://www.utah.com/playgrounds/the_wave.htm

or Bryce Canyon,

just prepare to be captive to the magic wonderland of southern Utah
here are a few teasers..

Judy,

The pictures are making me want to do this! We could push this back to 2009 if it would help others to make plans to attend...

For that matter we could expand the concept and offer different locations (regional)???

I love to travel whenever a photo opportunity arises... It's really a question of schedueling for me.

This is something that I would attend if at all possible. Do you have any ideas as to when and where it would take place? How many days? I'm kind of surprised that more people have not responded, as well. Don't give up on it quite yet, though!!

Right now every detail is up in the air...

I wanted to check interest first. It could be very few of us taking part from the response I've gotten. If that's the case it will make scheduling this much easier.

Just not close to the Nazarene event in Florida.

Maybe you could think of coming to Canada at some point!!!!

I ws just trying to meet at an extreme photograpic park mid-way between
Jon in Wisconsin and we Naznetters who live in the lower states closer to Mexico
is the reason I suggested Arches.

I have hiked this sureal Park now three times and still have not begun to exhaust Kodak Moments the wind and water on the formations affords...the town of Moab, Utah is not so expensive to lodge

the other option is to do Canyon Buttes..a memory maker for sure..
and the town of Page AZ is not too hard on the budget, also boasts
the Antelop canyons..loacted near Page

I just cannot do Canada as part of a group right now Marilyn

come visit me and we can do Utah

we did Dallas proper..did we not??:fav18

Here, it's $$. Perhaps even with some with more $$ than I, they'd got it committed to enough other places that traveling alone for a photo op doesn't fit it, along with a family vacation of some sorts, besides. Being alone, I would have no one else's plans/desires with which to conflict ... just have no travel-$$ now, period. :(

Wow I would love to attend, I could start paddleing now and maybe I would make it there by 2009. =). Coming from Hawaii I think it would be near impossible for 2008 and my husband deploying again at the end of this year would make 2009 out also =(.

Hey, Hawaii would be a great place for a photo workshop. Maybe we could go there and put it all on our Visa cards. Maybe Naznet could put together a cruise.

Somehow I don't think a Photo semminar (even in Europe) would qualify as a present...

Not for my wife anyway!

I have put off responding but I would be interested whenever and where ever but the closer to home the better. After many years away I am getting back into photography. The digital advances have enticed me. I hope to be participating more on this forum soon.

I have made my camera and me..as a life adventure
and over the past five years I have made MANY detours along the journey to make a memory.

However had to be willing to leave my boring Oklahoma
environs to meet people, naznetters (most for the very first time) and Vietnam friends scattered across the USA

I also have said yes and have gone out of my way..to explore and photograph (for the first time our National Parks)...you can all come to my home in Oklahoma for a photo shoot with Jon,
but I promise, that outside the one century old round barn and the Oklahoma National Memorial.we are a Oh Hum state

For this reason I have suggested, if a photo shoot takes place, why not invest in long range planning and using vacation time to make this happen in a place in the USA that boasts of a fabulous backdrop? You might make a grand keeper memory or two along the way. We are now visiting with setting this up in2009..to allow time to pa=lan vacations and finances..and talk your spouse into coming along for a memorable ride. :basic03

Jon may not have the time and monies to show up at each one of our doorsteps, and he needs to make this offer financially possible for his time and sharing his photo expertise. Maybe doing one in the west, where there are many options with National Parks..and one on the East Coast, at the fabulous places for a photo shoot would work for usens who are nationally scattered ?????

Flexibility on our part, to as much as possible, group ourselves together, preferably in notable outstanding locations for photos, seems reasonable

just agree to not nay saying before considering the options..
Can you plan and save monies for an interesting vacation outside of your back yard, and anticipate meeting people we have shared community with here on naznet and learn a few things to enhance your photo skills??

I am alone..this has to not be a hindrance..as life does not wait on a person to join me for the journey. I also have limited means..this is why I suggested a couple of places/times of off season, when motel prices are reasonable. Hey.I confess, I do motels with a micro wave and small frig in the room, and eat sparingly in restaurants

I am 64 years old and in reality I feel 64 years young..when I finally said YES, and have allowed myself to think and live outside of the "Box"

Ron
Welcome to naznet..and I did not intend to profile you in this response as there are many who want to do this and seem to be tethered to ........????????

If anyone wants to DO Germany , and Austria..(cannot pay your way Jon) however will go along as a translator and tour guide.I promise..with me in tow it would be a fun keeper memory...i have a great fun family in Germany...they love for me to bring guests when I visit

and If anyone wants to do Asia..I will have to save, save , save..however I am game..and make either one in 2010

I am not really familiar with the Orlando Fl area other than the touristy things (blah) but here is a website that has some other than touristy things to photograph that folks might want to have a look at.

Orlando Photo Ops (http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/South/Florida/Orlando/)

Of course I would love to meet you all (even if you are not a photographer, GA is a FUN fun way to meet not just Naznetters but Nazzies from around the world.) and if anyone wants to make a sojourn down to our area (not really Tampa citiness but really rural) it only takes an hour or so and there are many, many natural preserves here that are breath taking.

here is a site from my neck of the woods

Clearwater Area Photos (http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/South/Florida/Clearwater/)

Terri,

I live in Wisconsin, the heat and humidity here is usually nothing compared to Florida!

A Florida trip sounds much better for November instead of July!

I know I would benefit from being a part of such a project, but I need more details before I could commit. Linda and I are traveling 50% of the time, so the location and time would make a lot of difference.

Dave,

At this point we're really up in the air... We wanted to put out a "feeler" to see if there was enough interest. No concrete plans have been made. This all came about when Judy expressed interest in getting together for a photo shoot. Utah in April and Colorado in Oct. were mentioned as locations and times...

It really looks like this may not happen until 2009. Judy and I might be able to put something together on a smaller scale for this year... and I'd lean towards Colorado in Oct. if that's the case.

We'll keep everyone informed using this thread.

Jon
