I shot this yesterday afternoon. It's the lighthouse in Manitowoc, WI.

Very nice shot, Jon! I like the emptiness and the few colours, it somehow conveys the cold.

Jon,
I like the evening sun on the lighthouse. What is that in the foreground...birds?

It's a flock of seagulls sitting on the ice.

Cool! They almost look like rocks or snowballs. :) Hans is right...it does look really COLD!
Thanks for sharing.

Actually it was around 18 degrees...
I was lazy and shot this from an open window of the car...
I had wanted to walk out to get a different shot, but it's a long walk that is exposed to the wind the entire way. Plus I would have lost the sunlight shining on the side. The winter sky looked surreal, that was caused by the water reflecting it's color towards the sky.

Oh my goodness! What an awesome shot. Someday I hope I'll be as brilliant as you. :)

Jonathan, with such light-dark contrasts, this photo might even look great as an Ansel Adams-style photo ... good old B&W! ;)
Looked again, then came back to add that it might be neat to have it all B&W but for the background sky ... that 3-tiered coloring is unusual! Can y'all do something like that ... all B&W while leaving the sky colored? [with some editor]
