It's snowing here... it's wet and heavy stuff.

I took a few pictures, here's my favorite.

Pretty, Jonathan! But I'd rather be where I didn't have such photo ops ... have a lot of them right outside the windows here, too ... only was out in it as it was starting, to do a bit of a stock-up for the next few days.

I'd much rather be worrying about sunburn!

Macro of a snowflake??? I'll see what I can do!

Someday I'm going to get my ice sculpture pics scanned ... a bunch of snowflakes that got frozen together! HA! [no, actually it was a contest in Plymouth, MI, where chefs from all over the place ... not just US ... plied their craft ... really neat sculptures!] Much as I hate winter, I even got down on the ground a few times to get "just the right angle shot" of some of them. Yes, this whiny winter wimp did that for some good pics! ;)

Here's two shots taken with my old trusty 200mm macro.

I braced yself against the porch railing, ideally I would have dug out my tripod so I could use a longer exposure! Then I could have gotten the depth of field I really wanted.

Right now it's 33 degrees here. The snow is tapering off quickly and already melting. Tough conditions to do a macro shot of a snowflake! I'd guess that the shots I posted aren't quite 3:1 ratio...

Great shots Jon! I love those close ups of snow on evergreen branches :)

If you can get your hands on a December 2007 Popular Photography Magazine, look at the back page (pg 152) The photographer has a home made microscope that he photographs individual snowflakes with.

Here's a shot I did years ago. It is still one of my very best.
