Can't have anyone over syndrome.

Jim started a discussion about having people over.

I am not a housekeeper by nature and I have mentioned flylady.net before.

But I also have an inferiority complex. (Yeah, you heard, I said it :basic02)

So, I decided to forget about the condition of my home and think about the condition of my heart instead.

I love talking to people. I decided I wanted people over more than I did not want people over. I wanted my kids to know how to behave and host etc.

I have started by inviting the children's SS teachers over. What a blessing it has been. If you cant afford to spend a lot on food than have them over for an ice cream cone or something. Be creative.

It also helps keep me motivated in the house cleaning dept. if someone comes over once a month.

Yes, having an excuse to have people over certainly motivates one to tidy up the house! :)

Yes, company coming is a great motivation. It gives us something to look forward to, also. Dwayne has retired from the pastorate, and, even after two years, I feel at a loss for friends. I don't want to pull on the church members where we were for so long, to visit. Their pastor and his wife, need to be sort of first instead of us now.

We co-signed for one of our daughters and her family to move into a house they are buying, in Memphis, today. It willl motivate me, to get rid of some of our wall to wall furniture. We are going to give them a huge heavy entertainment center from the Philppines, a nice table for the living room, hopefully a piano, a pretty wool rug, and some other things. Then, the house will be much easier for me to feel that it is clean, and not so cluttered. I said, that I wish I could just go to sleep until their move is over, including their getting thing from our house.

I too, have an inferiority complex, but not near as bad as I use to have.

I love having people over, it does help with motivation for sure =). I guess being a pastors kid I grew up with a house full of people all the time. So having people over is just something I always fill comfortable with. The more you do it, the easier it will become =). I love the S.S. teacher thing though, what a great idea.

A good website that I often go to for hints is

www.organizedhome.com

I like it better than Flylady because I found the constant e-mails from Flylady overwhelming. With OH, you can pick and choose what you want. There are some good forums too.

I *adore* OH. The forums have been a great resource, but "CEO" (Cynthia Ewer, the webmistress) is cutting those out very soon. :( There are spinoffs that OH members are setting up, though. :basic05
