Does anybody know enough about the Christian alternative rock band known as skillet to know if I have cause for concern? A Young teenager close to me seems to be getting absorbed into them.

I have never heard of them, so Googled the band and found some videos on YouTube. I listened to the music and it all seems innocent enough to me... they've got some rockin' guitar solos!

My son really enjoys their music -- I've heard some of the lyrics (when I could tolerate the noise) and would prefer he listen to this group over most of the secular stuff available to kids.
I don't see any cause for concern if a young person is "getting absorbed".

Skillet is one of my son's favorite groups, he plays their music quite a bit when he is home from college. My wife likes them enough that she copied the music into her IPOD.

have a look at my myspace page (link at the bottom) and you can link to most of the rock christian artists...my taste is eclectic but I really love grunge rock. Red is my favorite. I love that I can listen to rock and roll (hard and metal) that I really love but it has a positive praise God theme to it. I love it!

Skillet has often performed at the Teen Mania (Acquire The Fire) events (or used to). Their drummer is a female (which many guys in our teen group found "way cool".) They currently have the song "Last Night" getting a lot of play here in Huntsville. They are more "industrial" and other such teen-happy sounding stuff, but, I enjoy some of their cuts, "Last Night" being one. I think there are far worse bands/groups to listen to.

They are from around here. My kids love them. By coincidence, my daughter happens to be wearing a Skillet t-shirt today!
From what I've seen and heard, I see no problem.

I have a 17 year old son, and I have been with him and other teens on our district to several concerts and festivals where Skillet has performed. :bannana
I have checked out all of their lyrics.
No problem:fav18
But you know what, Len.
Thanks for asking.
This is the kind of info we can all share with one another.
(And exactly why my college-age daughter and teenage son think its so weird that there is such a thing as Naznet.
Last summer my daughter was on a summer ministry team for ENC. She was at Doug Kitchen's church and he showed her several things we were discussing on Naznet. "It's just not right. They talk to each other.")

My son has been a fan of theirs for several years now. I remember taking him to one of their concerts 7 years ago, so they've been around awhile.
