Okay - I'm trying to figure out supplements and all that wonderful stuff. I know fish oil is supposed to be a good source of Omega 3's, and I take some every day. I know Flaxseed oil is also supposed to be good - but I wouldn't take both fish oil and flaxseed, right? As the body processes flaxseed oil into Omega 3s (if I remember right).

Would you take baby aspirin as well as fish oil? Or do they both do the same kind of thing? Or are they entirely different?

This stuff is confusing. Think I'll just take an apple.

You can eat flax. All you have to do is grind the seeds up with a coffee grinder (you wouldn't want to grind coffee afterwards without cleaning it though). You can use flax meal in place of oil with a 1 to 3 ratio. If it calls for 1/3 cup oil you would use 1 cup of flax meal. Sometimes I add just a bit more liquid when using the flax meal though because it makes the batter thicker instead of thinner like plain oil would. I use the golden flax because it has a milder (almost nutty taste). I use it in homemade bread, muffins, smoothies, sprinkle it on yogurt, etc. Flax is a good fiber source also. My husband takes fish oil and eats the food I make with flax in it.

Go ahead and eat the apple too - can't hurt :)

Are you taking the baby aspirin for your heart?

If all we are told is correct, you take the baby asperin to thin your blood. Omega 3s are not the same.

Fish oil is good for a lot more that just lowering cholesterol. It is brain food....it helps with all things neuroligical. My brother the Psychologist is a big advocate of fish oil.

It also helps with inflammation and joint pain.

The best one on the market right now is Nordic Naturals Pro-Omega. I give all my kids the Nordic Naturals Jr.

Like Robin I cook with flax seed everyday. It gives bread and muffins a wonderful taste and texture.

Not sure about the baby aspirin.

I don't really know how baby aspirin and fish oil would do the same things for you. What are you looking at taking baby aspirin for? A blood thinner?

I believe you can take flaxseed and fish oil at the same time, but I'm not quite sure it's really necessary. I have researched fish oil a lot, and take it daily because it's so good for you in so many ways. I also agree that Nordic Naturals Pro-Omega (http://www.seacoastvitamins.com/topic.php?health=nordic+naturals+omega) is a great one. There are other good brands, but I like Nordic Naturals a lot because they are sure to remove the mercury and any other toxins that can be present in it. And while they're one of the best, you can still find decent deals on their products. Good luck.
