She had the most style and class that I could say about any person.

She knew the lord and accepted you for your worth.

Mrs Strachn could never say anything bad about a person. Very seldom did I ever see her get mad.

Except for a big event at my old church when a pastor and his family left.

Boy was she mad.

This woman prayed over my sick children at different moments in their lives and they responded to her prayers.

As some of you may have guessed. LAUREL (MAMMY) STRACHN has gone home to the Lord this month.

Here is what the Toronto Star had to say today:

LAUREL (MAMMY) STRACHN

Went home to be with the Lord January 3, 2008 at the age of 93.

6 great-great-grands, 2 sisters and 1 brother, numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins, relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home
’’Scarborough Chapel’’, 2900 Kingston Road (west of McCowan Rd. and east of St. Clair Ave. E.) 416-267-4656 on Friday, January 11, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral Service at the Rosewood Church of the Nazarene, 657 Milner Ave.,
Scarborough (west of Morningside and east of Progress) on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. Interment at Pine Ridge Memorial Gardens in Ajax.

As I said to my friend Lisa tonight - you can say this is bad news or good news. Bad - cause she is gone, good - cause she is with the Lord.

Thanks for posting this Marilyn. She really was an amazing woman who encouraged and supported Carl and me through some of the most difficult days in our ministry (as did you of course).

Yep...I remember that Sunday well and Laurel's wrath. I think she was very happy to know that things turned out ok for us and that God was blessing our family.

Sister Laurel was truly a sister in Christ.

I can't get to the funeral but Carl is hoping to attend.

I will be there.

I look forward to seeing Carl.

Missing you both.
