Marge,

Do a search on SKYPE as I know we've had at least two discussions about it in this forum. If you have any additional questions after that. I too have it on my computer and would be glad to answer any questions.

Skype is free to use from computer to computer. You have to download the software and need a microphone/speakers to use it as a telephone. The person that you want to call must also have downloaded the software. Then both of you need to have the software up and running to talk/type to each other. The software will let you know which of your contacts are on-line and available to talk.

The quality of voice is reasonably good and many of us have used it to talk to people overseas.

If you need to know anything else, just ask.

But most likely doesn't work with dial-up, if voices come through as broken up as something oral sounds when DL'ing it, right? :(

Hardly anything on the internet works well with dial up. The speed is just way too low. I'm sorry.
