Has anyone done this program?

How many weeks did it take? I see that it's 40 days, but would that be 6 Sundays, or are there launch and wrapup Sundays that come with it as well?

What day of the week did you start/end your 40 days on?

Any other insight, particularly in regards to scheduling the campaign? We're looking at doing it right after Easter, but I've got to fit my annual meeting in there as well...

Thanks!

Right after Easter would give you a good time frame for it to end at Pentacost.

We did both the Quest and Rendezvous. John preached on it Sunday nights to kick off the week, then had a discussion study on it on Wednesday nights.

I personally enjoyed the Quest series more, but both are very worthwhile. Rendezvous is an attempt to draw people closer to God on a regular basis.

We really enjoyed the video clips and power point that comes with the program.

Thanks, Barb...

I've got to try to fit my annual meeting in there as well.. and that would take up one week. Do you remember how many Sunday services it took?

John kicked it off one Sunday and it ended on a Wednesday night. Actually, our revival began just as this was to end, so John consolidated the last two discussions and even re-did and consoladated the last two messages.

The material seems adaptable to anyone schedule. You would not have to preach at the beginning of each week, but maybe show the clip as an introduction to the week during your Sunday service or annual meeting.

The discussions do not have to be very long and detailed.

Thanks, Barb. That's very helpful to my planning.

I drive past the Antioch Church of the Nazarene for work a couple days a week and they've got a Rendezvous banner out now. I don't know how that helps, but there it is.

Two churches in our area did it. I talked to both pastors, and neither one was too ecstatic about it.

Jeremy,

I was not ecstatic about it either. It was a nice study and helped others. I just personally did not get a lot out of it. I enjoyed The Quest much more.

Jon,

If you read through the entire book now you will notice that there is quite a bit of repetition. At least, to me, it was. I could take that book and consolidate it into fewer lessons and get the same message across.

One of the pastors I talked to mentioned the "redundancy," especially toward the end... I think that I can rework it into my time constraints, and hopefully eliminate some of that feeling as well...

Our church did it a couple of months ago.

I hate to say it, but I was not impressed. I found the reading a bit dry and uninspired (which was very disappointing, considering the wonderful subject matter!). The lessons that accompanied it were also lacking. Sometimes they reminded me of busywork (lacking depth), other times too repetitive, and other times actually irritating.

I didn't necessarily dislike it, but it was just blah. Maybe there were others who really liked it, but I never heard anyone talk about it at ALL, and I think that alone says a lot--I find people in our church family are usually ready and willing to give kudos and praise when they appreciate a sermon or series.

This is just my opinion - and I'm only one person - but I figured it may be worth something to you anyway.

The sermon part was good enough, though, I will say, and our pastor did a fine job preaching it. It was really just the home study part that I didn't enjoy as much.

Has anyone an unused or slightly used dozen of Rendezvous, by Frank Moore?

My church did it last year. I had a hard time getting into it, but I attribute that to the fact the we didn't do much with it to begin with. We had the dvds and the sermon and that was about it. I think only one person besides myself did the homework... Maybe if we had it in weekly discussion groups and in wed night bible study...or read the original book....we could have gotten more out of it.
