When my daughter ran away she took dog with her. When she moved into a place of her own left dog with some folks. Well dog ran away, probably trying to find its way home to us, and was found dead! :(

Sorry about your dog, Ian. :basic04 When I first saw the title of your post, I thought of the beginning of a Country/Western song. ;)

Its weird how animals get to us, and think the older we get the harder it gets!

Dogs are so trusting and loving, almost like babies. It hurts when they are gone. :basic04

I am so sorry Ian.
It is a very real grief when we lose an animal we loved.

Yes, Ma's dog, Ginger, has gotten called Sasha a few times since Sasha's gone. Worse yet, there's this one insert in the paper that I found [after it had been discarded; Ma does that quickly w/most of the ("her") paper] which had dogs listed in various places that are up for adoption [cities around Michigan].
There was ["is" yet, since it's just been a few days?] one about 40 miles away [Saugatuck, a place on Lake Michigan where we used to spend a good deal of time in the summer "eons" ago] that has a little gal named "Sassafras, called Sassy," who looks exactly like Sasha! She's also a black Lab/Chow mix like Sasha was. Tempting! But then there'd be that "living quarters" problem again ... you lose a husband, and you're not supposed to be allowed to have a dog, at least, either ... all due to that thing we're not supposed to worry about but is definitely needed to live on this earth ... $$$. We try to not worry ... but people/actions/circumstances sometimes make it difficult to not have to continually RE-linquish worry ... again & again & again ...........

I just read this post Ian. I am so sorry about your wonderful pet. This type of loss is worse than one having to put their pet down, for you would have look after it well.
Sometime's I feel I love animals and especially dog equal with humas.
I hope there is a lesson learned here for your daughter.
