So...I was reading through a very old journal of mine and found this poem that I wrote when I was about 18.

It's interesting to read it now...30 years on. Poetry is not the best and I would probably use different words if I was writing this today but the theology has pretty much stayed the same for me. It blessed me to read it again and to reflect on how God's presence has been with me. That the holy life has consistently been about surrender, coming to God for refreshing and faith.

Wasn't sure which forum to put it in today but I decided on this one.

My Prayer
Descend great spirit, cleanse my heart
With fire from above
Remove the stain of sin and strife
Baptize me in my love.

Unrighteousness lies deep within
Which only you can see
No human can release this chain
I need you to be free.

Let streams of living water now
Flow deep within my soul
That I at times may be refreshed
That I may be made whole.

I do not need a wondrous sign
To know your love has won
By faith I'll live a holy life
To glorify the Son.

That is really precious. I had no clue about these things at the age of 18. It's beautiful to have been seeking Him so consistently.

This poem is precious. I love it. This is the second poem I have read that you wrote. This tells me that you like to write poetry. Am I right? I just got the best idea! You should put your poems to music and sing them! That would be so nice. You should sing one in church one morning. Don't tell anyone you wrote it until after you sing it. I bet everyone would love it! What do you think? :)

"Funny"....this week I discovered 3 poems that I had written in 1987! I was going through some old journals. (They don't seem old...seems like yesterday!) I don't even remember writing these poems. I wrote quite a number of poems in High School. Then I thought that they were just written by a "KID", so I burned them up. NOW I wish I would have kept them!
I love your poem!!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
