I still consider myself to be a newcomer to Naznet. I find myself to be amused by the K Club. I recognize that it represents a milestone in terms of the number of postings an individual has made and perhaps worthy of recognition. But it got me wondering about the use of the letter "K" in other settings. In baseball, a K is a strikeout. Do all K Club members belong to a K Church (or is that phrase still used in church growth literature)? I never pastored a K church and have no regrets about it. I never was a fan of Kellogs Special K cereal and have no regrets about it. Any one else have any other uses of the letter "K" to share?

I used to live in Kankakee which was sometimes referred to by the letter K with a subscript 3. I will never understand the thinking of the KKK. I have a friend with the initials of KK.

I belonged to Circle K, the college/university auxiliary of the Kiwanis Club when I was at BNC/SNU.

There is Mary K. at Sun Valley Indian School that sells Avon products.
I have mentioned here before about my brothers sneaking up on a KKK meeting, getting caught and walloped and then visit my dad's Nazarene church the next Sunday morning in robes sans hoods.

Yes, I often write/say that I'm going to K'zoo when visiting family there, rather than the whole looong Kalamazoo ... most in Michigan would know what K'zoo is ... unless they're rather new to the state. ;)
returned b/c I realized that there was another one I'd clicked on that "multiple quotes" dealie that did not show up here (that happens frequently, it seems). Anyway, someone mentioned a niece with initials KK ... have one of those, too ... Kasi K-------- {Kasi = Kasandra's nickname, "S" sounds like "Z" rather than hard "S"}

I was going to post a reply saying that I do knot have any other uses for K and I don't really have a knack for coming up with any. But after reading Mike's post I did think of one. We have circle K gas station where we get pop and a snack sometimes, even get gas there sometimes. :basic01

In the world of retail shopping, we have a positive and a negative use of the letter K. There's a jewelry story with the commercial tage "Every kiss begins with K." Then there is the decline of former retail power house K-Mart. I'll leave it up to the cynics among us to decide which is the positive and which is the negative.

I've done a lot of shopping and buying at Kay Jewelers. We no longer have K-Mart in the Fort Worth area. However, I still shop often at Kroger.

Reminded me, Christine ... I was "good" the last couple of times I went by their sign and it was on ... I didn't stop! :basic05 BTW, did I ever tell you folks that, awhile after I stopped and learned they were giving a donut hole when the light was on & they were baking/cooking, that on another stop, I learned they were back to doing a whole donut!
Yes, I stopped, asked for my donut hole, and they said, "You don't want a whole donut?" I said that I tho't they were now doing donut holes. Nope. Maybe they got complaints about the switch, so switched back. :laughing
BTW, I only manage to even drive by the place an average of once a month or less. ;)
