It seems like a 'redneck joke' is in order but, the background setting isn't quite right.
I guess it goes to show you don't have to be a redneck for beer to cause you to loose your common sense.

I just noticed, on that first one where the guy has the truck propped up, it looks like he is welding on the gas tank!

I have to admit, I have seen a similar experience to the last photo -- we were doing training to deal with radioactive contamination. We were all running around in our suits, all taped and suffocating, while our instructor was wearing regular civvies... We got a few interesting looks from some passerbys....

We had a chemical spill here once that was putting out toxic fumes. Our emergency brigade had all of their person protective equipment on and the managers were standing there with a rag over their nose. They could have become part of the emergency. If one of us workers would have done that, we would have got fired.

Which just goes to show you that sometimes it takes as much (more?) chutzpah to climb the ladder to mgmt than brains, eh? :basic05 :laughing

The last sentence makes the most sense Joel -- managers are expendable -- good workers are not. The company is simply protecting their investment in the productive units...

I don't have a copy of a picture, but the television one that always floors me is where the technicians are working with biological contaminants that attack humans. I know they don't want to mess up their makeup, but they always wear half-face respirators and maybe goggles. Half-face respirators don't make much sense for very many applications, but especially in the case of contaminants that affect the lungs. If they harm the lungs, they're not going to be nice to the eyes or ears, either. But at least it give opportunity to feel superior.
So what's wrong with welding around a half-filled gas tank, anyway?
