I cleaned out a cupboard last night and just started posting to Freecycle. I'll have many people coming by tonight to pick up items.

In another thread we are talking about simplifying. I have never found Freecycle very helpful when it comes to getting things I need but, I tell you. It's wonderful for getting rid of stuff.

I highly recommend it. I realized a long time ago that putting stuff aside for a garage sale didn't work for me. Just ended up with a huge pile of stuff and no motivation to go to the work of selling.

The nice thing about Freecycle is that you meet people and have a chance to be a blessing to a stranger. Also, you can get rid of stuff as you want to get rid of it. The stuff I want to give away should mostly be out of my house tonight.

I have never heard of Freecycle. I guess it is a website. I will have to check it out.

I hate garage sales. I would rather give things away than mess with a garage sale, or yard sale, or rummage sale....whatever it is called where you live. lol

Craigslist also has a FREE section that you can post items to give away.

Neat, huh?

Oh...then you would like Freecycle. There should be one in your area.

A new couple came to our church a few weeks ago and we knew we had seen each other before. Turns out we gave them a couch a few years ago through Freecyle.

When we first moved to town my girlfriend taught me a new trick... just set it out by the curb and post a sign that said "free". I haven't given much away that way, but did manage to get rid of a twin bed frame that had been in the way for a long time.

Now, if I could just get the boys to carry up the stove out of the basement and take it out to the curb... lol

Barbara,

Thank you so much for this post. We are in the midst of cleaning out, and I have a dining room table that needs disposed of. We've used it as a desk for years, but it's hitting the road. My husband had decided to throw it in a dumpster he has access to, but I would much rather see someone get use out of it if they need it.

It looks as if the stove in the basement will be going too!!! Yeah!!!

Now this is bad.

I'm roaming around my house now trying to find stuff to give away :-)

I love freecycle. I just got two Lazy boy reclyner chairs for my kids, I got two brand new rocking chairs, high chair and some clothes. My daughter uses it too.

After reading all you guys' notes, I'll have to check it out! Years ago I'd try sales [driveway/carport ones---no "garage" here]. They are a pain, as has been said. So, I've taken to giving away, too ... a place called "In the Image" doesn't sell things, but turns around and gives them away, too. Have made several trips over there the last few years; need to do so again ... once it's even nice enough to be going out.

What I like about Freecycle is that people come to you to get the stuff :)
