Wife use to love British domestic spiders, no bad biters. They would just curle up into a ball in palm of your hand, real cute! Anyone else do this?

I LOVE spiders (almost as much as snakes)! I get along better with them if they live outside, though.

Having moved to northeast Georgia, I've had to become acustom to scorpions. I still get chills when I see one.

Did the topic of this thread cause anyone else to picture the snake "handlers"? But, I guess dancing around with a spider in your hand would not really evoke the same defeat of "evil" that snake handlers tried to represent.

Hey Ian,
This is Mark.
Is Christine flipping mental!!!
Spiders!!!
I can handle just about any other creature except spiders!!!
In the George Orwell novel "1984", room 101 (I think) was where one would be sent for "reconditioning" and one would face there greatest fear there.
Mine would be spiders!
Big ones, little ones, colourful ones, it doesn't matter. I kill them all! Except for the black with yellow striped garden spiders. When we have one near a place where I may walk by, I find the longest handled garden rake I can find, scoop it up and take it out to our firewood pile in the farthest corner of the yard.
Cindi and the girls are laughing at me as I write this, because they all know it is true.
Since you have let the information out that there are spiders in the UK, maybe I'll rethink a visit.:)
Mark

((Okay, a slight exaggeration . . . but only slight!))
