...for the crash, so when we refer to it, we all know what we're talking about. You know, like "Crash of 2010" or something like that (but way more creative).

Any ideas? :o

April 14, 1865 was the day Lincoln was shot, but that might not be the most tasteful way to commemorate this event... or that one.

It was also the day, in 1912, that the Titanic hit an iceberg in the north Atlantic. That event might be more promising for a name.

So, we call it the "Sinking of the Titanic"? It was getting a little large!

:( All the good smileys are gone! :(

Maybe something to do with today, April 15th, when it was reborn. The "Tax Day Turnaround" or something.

Can there be T-shirts?

There better be t-shirts. Here are some ideas for t-shirts:

"I survived black Wednesday."
"Now maybe I'll have a chance at a higher post count that Ryan Scott - nah!"
"The crash heard round the world"
"Beware the ides of April -1"
"April Fools ain't got nothin' on April 14th"
"I was there for the big one"

Etc. Etc.

Maybe this belongs on the theology forum, but wasn't this all in the foreknowledge of God that in His Divine Providence and sovereign will that NazNet would be decimated and turned into dust?

Or for the open theists among us, has this just become another opportunity for God to demonstrate His grace in allowing NazNet to rise again in a new form?

just wondering...

Or did God cause it to happen as a punishment for some posts with an unkind tone to them?

You mean like this one....?

Wow! I see the resemblance! Now you know what I deal with each morning!

Naznet can also cause dissension within a household!

Well, we didn't have it before but who knows what this new NazNet might bring!

Naznet can also cause dissension within a household!

Maybe we need a one-participant-per-household rule. Besides the potential dissension, these husband/wife teams might try to do a power play and take over the place!

Arghh!! First day of the new forum and I'm already harking back to my battle with the no-[female] spouses-on-the-church-board policy!

:D

But I was just telling my wife how the crash is a great opportunity for her to join! :)

Hey, it wasn't me this time!

(And she launches into story ...)

Several years ago, I did several posts-of-the-day on the prayer forum. However, the more I did, the more I was convicted that I was not in God's will in posting them. Nothing wrong with them in particular, I don't think, just not what I needed to be doing at that time in my life.

One morning I was praying about it and noted that I had deleted what I could and would not post any more but the window of opportunity for deletion had run out for most of them and I probably wouldn't ask a moderator to delete them for me. I then left my "prayer closet" and went down to my computer to check out NazNet. Lo and behold, there had been a crash during the night that had set the board back several days to the last backup and deleted my posts.

I think it's in "Bruce Almighty" that Bruce tells God -- "Now you're just showing off." Sometimes you just have to laugh.

For some reason Scott didn't seem to appreciate the humor when I later confessed to him.

I've read several "It wasn't me" posts, including my own. Nazarenes must have a lot of pent-up guilt. ;)

On another forum I frequent, we had a crash back in 1998 or 9. For about six or seven years afterward we would refer to things that happened BGC. Before Great Crash

Yeah, some of us were raised by the use of many "guilt trips." It's a generational "thang." ;)

I was thinking that the Crash is a good opportunity for Naznet to change its direction. Part of the scripture in my devotional today was 2 Timothy 2:23 "Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels." Some of threads on Naznet were starting to get pretty heated.

The second one that I know of. Hmm, that kind of has a Matrix-y feel to it as well.

Shea I think there have been three or four. Only Scott and Hans will know for sure. But, it seems like that many to me, counting this software and the original NazNet Board.

In one of the crashes everyone was talking about the "Rapture" had happened and some were really worried about being left behind.

Hey, I was thinking about "the Humbling" for an official name. Whether what we do here is generally worthy of merit might be a debate, but we had compiled a lot of things, which are now gone, making us all a bit happier to have each other. Plus its catchy.

"...remember I was saying that before the Humbling?"

But how are we all supposed to get our post counts back up to where they should be? Foolish and stupid arguments are the perfect tool for post-count inflation!

Hmmmmm ... or, perhaps ... "NazNet (re-) Emerging"

or, a slightly less contentious, and more Updike-ish, "NazNet Redux"
