Yes, just heard someone on the radio this morning (they called into the station I was listening to) who got a call from where they used to live down in MO, telling them of a small nearby town that virtually got wiped out with the tornadoes last night, and they are searching for something like 60 people! Whoa! That's heavy duty weather ....
'Guess I need to reconsider being a WWW, and just keep hibernating. Meanwhile, they postponed our 6" storm forecast for last night until this afternoon and evening, adjusting the amount upwards from 6" to possibly 12."
Barb [Garfield], you've maybe heard of this by now, being down there. Not sure, as I was half asleep, but seems they may have said Gadsden(?).

Gina, Mike here. I didn't see info. about tornadoes in MO. I found THIS (http://www.wmctv.com/global/story.asp?s=7828175) on storms in MS.

Actually, now reading [the one finally popped up; waiting for your 2nd link yet, which said it had timed out], I see a couple of things that could've sounded like that town name in MO [Gadsden] when I was half asleep. Atkins ... Jackson ... [same vowel sounds, two syllables ;)]. I have the radio on low when sleeping, you see, and apparently heard wrong.
Whatever, she'd [the caller] come from MO to MI, and had lived not far from whatever town she'd said that was hit bad, and "wiped out" [her words, as reported by her caller from the area].

Actually, one of the families from First Baptist church here in Sikeston has a daughter at Union in Jackson, TN. The warning came "get into your bathrooms and into the tubs and close the door." This girl dashed to her bathroom and seconds later the tornado hit. Her dorm room was gone.
Rushing into the bathtub/shower saved her life. She lost everything except what she was wearing, but was not hurt.
Our church secretary attends First Baptist and told us about it this morning.
I do not know why they were not in shelter before the tornado hit. The warnings had been out for hours. It must have been a sudden drop without being spotted ahead of time.
