I know that we have a prayer request section, but I am still more comfortable in this area...
My daughter, 8 years old and in 3rd grade, has had conductive hearing loss for a number of years now. She has had 7 set s of tubes in her ear and an ear drum replacement surgery. Since Kindergarten we knew that she was struggling. However, since her birthday is on the cut off date, we were told that she was a late bloomer. We ended up switching to a magnet school this year, and they have conducted more tests and referred her to more places than we ever thought imagineable. Last week, we had an IEP (Indeividualized Education Plan) meeting, and she qualifies for special assistance. Before her IQ was too high to qualify. Her IQ is still high, but the test results yielded enough discrepency that she qualified. So this is her first week that she will start a new program in the school. She will leave her class 90 minutes a day/ 4 days a week for individual instruction. My prayer request: That this transition is easy for her and that we don't have a lot of stumbling blocks. Special Services (education) has such a more positive light to it than it did 20 years ago when I was in elementary school. Thank you. This is pretty long, I just needed to share it with people I knew that could say a quick prayer for her today.
Thank you.
