Do any of your churches use a payroll service? Are any of you ministers or church employees paid through one? I've been researching it and giving it serious consideration for tax purposes. After filing incorrectly for three years (2004-2006), I'm tired of either overpaying or having to pay a penalty. I'd just as soon not have to think about it.

However, I don't want to use a service that doesn't understand the unique status of the minister (we are "dual status" payers), minister's housing allowance, expense reimbursement plans, etc. I'm trying to find a service that handles ONLY churches, but no dice so far.

Any recommendations?

It's very possible that you can accomplish the same thing through a local CPA in your area. The cost would probably be comparable and the contact for information would like be much more personal.

We don't use one, but like Gary said, I know my CPA does payrolls.

Turbo tax has helped me in my tax planning. Follow the link in the instructions for income learned in religious activity. This will allow you to declare what you spent on your housing allowance and will automatically add your unused housing allowance to your adjusted gross income. It will also print cupons for your quarterly tax payments.
