We get out of town on Fridays, John's day off, and even drive to places like Paducah, KY just for lunch. We have our weekly lunch date.

Sometimes we get lunch at a drive through window and take it to the park and sit along the lake, undisturbed.

We go to hear Southern Gospel Quartets, college choirs who are in the area or community theatre productions.

We both love table games so once in a while we play games for the evening while some sports event is on TV.

We usually see a movie (either in the theatre or at home); it's about the only leisure activity we really have in common.

We did take a nice walk today after lunch to enjoy the unseasonably nice weather here in Kansas.

As Judy said, Bob, I've not got one of these. Copied Barb's note here, b/c it reminded me of some of the things we did, tho', when I did have "one of these." There would be dinner and/or game night at Danny & Gina's house; some concert attendance, either the two of us, or with someone; or, we might watch some rented movie, or go to someone else's house for a change for game night, or dinner and ... as at our house. Oh, yes ... how could I forget---tho' it was rarer---golf now & then, or visits to a park, mostly with other folks [potluck/buffet-style]? Maybe because it's winter, and I'm cooped up here inside, all the indoor activities came to mind instead? Even forgot our fishing now & then ... still have my pole. ;) Oh, yeah ... we'd eat out about once a week, at least, too ... often going Oriental of some sort.

My husband and I have been blessed with a date night since my Mother in Law moved to town. On Thursdays, she will keep the girls' over night. So we usually go out to eat and go shopping in stores that we would dare not take 3 children with busy hands :) Our dinners range from how much money we have left for the week. This week was Taco Bell and a show that we had recorded on TV. I just love the quiet house once a week.

Movies, traveling, bookstores...

Date night often involves bookstores. When the weather gets nicer (above 40 degrees) we walk together.

We also direct the district's Total IMPACT team, a teen worship band and drama group of 25 teens that ministers once a month. While it is a whole lot like work for Esther, in that as a high school music teacher she spends every day doing similar activities, what makes it fun is that we get to do this together.

Bob, I guess you could say that Doug and I enjoy being together just doing nothing.

When money allows it we enjoy traveling. Since the cost of gas has gone so high we are having to stay closer to home.

Doug enjoys gardening and I enjoy preserving the foods from the garden. I can and freeze the food that he grows. I don't like to see anything go to waste.

We enjoy evenings together after our evening meal where he will watch Larry King on CNN and other news programs and I will work on my computer trying to organize my family history.

Gary Smalley says that couples can enjoy spending time together yet enjoy doing different things at the same time.

He even said that when traveling or vacationing a husband may enjoy golf or fishing and the wife wouldn't enjoy those things but would enjoy shopping or other things that he wouldn't. BTW: Doug neither golfs or likes fishing, I just threw that in for an example of different activities. When Doug and I travel whatever we do we do it together.

We have even enjoyed finding cemetaries and finding tombstones of our ancestors together!! :) We have traveled to an auction of an ancestor and bid and won the bids on family heirlooms. Doug has helped me to find antiques, some of which were family heirlooms. I guess you call that building our nest together! :)

We enjoy traveling to visit our children, grandchildren and extended family.

So, you might say that about Doug and me he likes TV and reading books while I enjoy my computer and photography.

On June the first Doug will have been retired as an engineer from the Union Pacific RR for five years. Neither one of us can believe where the time has gone. It just doesn't seem that long.

That's just a starter for you from the Franklin Home! :)

Most of our "together" time is usually us together in the same room but doing different activities (i.e., him watching some sort of ball on TV or reading, and me on the computer or reading). We talk a lot, though, about what's going on in our life, or what we're reading/seeing online etc. We like to play online Scrabble against each other. We recently did a puzzle together over several weeks. We like to go to the occasional movie and rent them sometimes. We go to concerts together and family walks. On "date" nights we'll go out for dinner and to the bookstore or for a walk at the arboretum or go to a movie.

He *really* likes to golf, but I have no interest or skill in golfing, so he teases me that when we get older I can drive the cart and read while he plays. That actually sounds appealing. :) Right now he's teaching our 6yo to golf, since he's had no luck with me. She even has her own tiny set of clubs.

Sharon and I enjoy camping in the motorhome. That's her thing.

We also enjoy touring on the Harley. That's my thing.
