I love the tax software you can buy now. It cost $20.00 and did all the calculations and optimize deductions for Carl, myself and Leisha (who has tuition credits to transfer to us.)

Anyway, I owe $1,000 but Carl is getting back $4,000 so that's a net profit of $3,000. I like income tax filing time :) And when we file online we could have the money within 10 days.

Will be helpful when we go on holidays at the end of April.

I download the program from the Dutch IRS. They have it for Windows, Apple and for Linux.

I woke up this morning to find my refund in my bank account.

Gotta love electronic filing and direct deposit :)

I like your way of thinking.

You owed $1,000; Carl got back 4,000; Then you woke up this morning to find your refund deposited in your account. I go along with that. :fav17

It's a joint account. And the only reason Carl got as much as he did is because he took many of my deductions. :) Our net "joint" refund was greater that way.

So its all good.

I love how government has corrupted our language and thinking.

They are returning $3000 of your money that you paid from your income, and we think of it as 'profit' or bonus...and it even makes you like tax time! ;)

I've always said that if payroll withholding was eliminated, there would be rioting in the streets at tax time. :fun16

I "love" the thought that you were able to do all of this yourself.
I have been living at the Bank it seems. Today I pray and I mean Pray very seriously that this is all over for awhile for me.
I vowed today that I am not going to be at the "beck and call" of more informed people than me, I pledge to myself right now, " no longer will I be the uneducated little olde widow they think I am".

I must be one of those really weird people who don't mind paying income tax. Yes...we usually get a nice refund. But even if we didnt, I love my country and I love what it provides to me as a citizen. When I look at the actual service I get (both federally and provincially) what I pay out is a bargain.

Now...property tax, that's another matter. I live in a town of 24,000 and they really don't do such a great job (IMHO) of managing the town budget. Our property taxes keep going up yet services keep going down.

lol Barbara

I kinda feel the same way. I was help for many years with my kids - now it is pay back time.

I pay extra taxes throughout the year for each of my jobs. So this year I am getting just over $2400 back.

This is perfect timing for our trip over seas!!!!

Just waiting patiently for the deposit to be done!!

Did you file online? If so you should have it back quite quickly. Mine arrived within days.

Was talking to someone from your church yesterday. They called to find out Lindsay's address. I told them they could probably take her off your membership roles since she's been a member of our church for eight years. LOL Anyway, I can't remember her name but I told her to say to you :)

I haven't gone to that church either for 8 plus yrs.

I go to Main St now.

I am suprised that she is still on the role.

That's the church I meant Marilyn...Main Street. Lindsay transferred her membership there after we had to leave Kennedy Road. At that time, it was important for her to maintain a Nazarene connection.

Years ago I worked as a top salesperson for a corporation and everyone there who was making a lot of commissions all used this retired accountant who was one of the top accountants in the country and had retired here (to the land of snowbirds ;) ). He taught me all the ins and outs of legal deductions and how to maximize my return and after a couple of years with him I've always done my own taxes. Until this year. I've had a real struggle with what I need to do and what I need to delegate and with increased responsibilities in both my home and congregation I've had my head spinning  So our lovely congregational accountant was my first choice when I wanted to support someone else--and she charged me just a small amount over the actual filing charges if I'd done it myself :D It was nice to know it was being done correctly and not have to worry about it at all :)
