There are so many features in this new software that I still have not used them all. I have started this thread so that participants can share things they have learned.
So far, the feature I like best is the spell check. To use the spell check feature you merely click on the ABC with a check mark in the upper right corner of the frame. The first time you use it, if you don't have a spell check program on your computer, it may tell you to download one. I just followed the instructions and the spell check worked the second time I tried it.
So far, I like this new software.

I currently don't have anyone on my "ignore" list, but I like having such a feature. If one gets tired of someone's posts, they can simply add that person to their "ignore" list. They will no longer see posts from that person.
That provides a solution short of banning a person from the board. If you don't like what someone else posts, you can just "ignore" them.

Hi,
You can also make a Buddy List. That way you can see when a friend is on the webpage at the same time you are, so that you can personal message them. If you select open buddy list from the Quick Links it will open up your list in a small window that you can keep open.

P.S. I am not sure why, but I do not see the spell check feature.

When I am on the main page, it is showing new posts in forums, even though I have read them all. Well, you can fix that by going to the Quick Links menu, and click Mark Forums Read. Then your back to a nice pristine front page, until someone posts again ;->

Hey there-
What does it mean when the little circle next to (on the right) of one's name on a post is green?

under thread tools menu is a really nice way to format an entire thread.

Hi,
When it is green, that person is logged in, when it is dark, they are not. So you can see if that person is on the forum at the same time you are.

Thanks for the tip on the printable view -- I didn't know it would do that -- very nifty!

I've used the software on other boards, so I'm familiar with it. I like the flexibility of the software, but don't care for the way it displays. In a trade, I'll take the flexibility.

Like Glenn, I have used this software on other boards. I do like it, although there are a few features of Ceilidh I like better. For the most part, though, I like this better. One of the things I like about this software is that when a new post is added to a thread, it moves it to the top of the forum. I don't know if it works that way automatically or if it has to be set up that way, but the other forums I have been on that use this software have that feature. That would keep popular threads (hot topics!) from being buried.
Also, on the other forums, the posts continue to stay on, although I'm sure there is a probably a way to limit how long they stay and thus limit the size of the files on the server. You can then do a search for a topic to see what has been posted already. For instance, we occasionally get a thread going about women preachers. Many of us who have hashed that over in the past don't particularly want to rehash it when someone new brings it up again. However, they can do a search to see what has been said previously and then if they want to add something to the discussion, they can and it will come to the top of the board. That essentially reopens the discussion for anyone who wishes to participate.
OK, I'm outta here. I was not going to stay up this late! Definitely need to add more smileys if we're going to use this software... I need the sleeping smiley!
Nite,
Betty

Okay, I just thought of something...if this is true, it would trump all benefits of the Ceidisheifhaonvaps software - Will all threads/replies/etc. be available for search in some sort of archive? Basically, do threads ever disappear?
Also, I'm not sure it could work since we enter town and state in the same box, but if there was some way to note how many different members are from each state/nation, it would be great.
Another thing I like is being able to see where everyone is from on each post. I had no clue that Gillian was from the UK until this software. I am a visual person, and just picturing where a poster lives in my head when I read their post adds a lot of color to whatever discussion is going on.

I have added several forum styles that people can use -- giving a wide variety of "looks" to the forum.
I picked one that I liked, went to my User CP and saved it as my preference.
But each time I came back, it would come up in the "Default" setting.
I finally figured out what was happening. I had added NazNet Community to my favorites before I changed my preferred style. When I come here via that link, the URL is: http://www.naznet.com/community/index.php?styleid=1
The key is "?styleid=1" in that url. I removed the "? styleid=1" part of the url from the link and the forum now comes up in my preferred "look."

I have NazNet Community in my Links instead of my Favorites. Every time I click on that link it comes up with the same style as when I left it the last time.
