Earth hour was born in Sydney and there is a huge push to make it a big deal here. It is constantly being advertised on all the media outlets. We generally are watching a Saturday evening movie with the lights off at that time anyway so it won't be a big sacrifice for us to be a part of it.

not me
I'm a global warming unbeliever.

Even if you don't believe in global warming, I think it is a good thing to be part of. To cooperate with people all over the world in this way and recognize that we do have an impact on the world we live in. Why not take part?

when I was a kid (1 of 6) we drove volkswagons instead of the cadillac my dad could have afforded and obviously we rarily passed anyone on the road. :) you didn't dare walk out of a room and leave the lights on and it was always chilly in the house during the winter and warm at best during the summer.
those asking us to participate, I ask, where ya all been.
oh yea your the ones that blast by me in your suv grumbling about gas prices and global warming slowing just enough
to let me know I'm still number 1 :laughing

I don't quite understand this response but that's ok.

Blessings...and welcome to NazNet.

Ahh...now here they are encouraging us to turn off all non-essential electrical items...so I can't watch a movie.

I was thinking of sitting in the dark, surfing NazNet with the battery on my computer :)

Well as it turned out Emmy came home late and we had dinner and forgot all about it. Aghh well. They were extolling the extent of difference it would make around the world to do this for just one hour. It kind of reminded me of the child getting excited because they carried a bucket of sand off the beach and thought they had somehow moved the beach. Even though the numbers sound impressive the reality is it doesn't make one iota of difference.

Well...it certainly does no harm and I think it has to do a little good. Even if just makes people think.

I looked out on my street at 8:30 and it seemed like a lot of my neighbours were participating.
