I may have asked this in past, just cant remember, never mined its a good subject, especially in days of fast 24 hour news broadcasts.
I get a daily paper, not necessarily because news is new to me, but for more in depth articles.
Do you get a daily newspaper? and if so why?
Added to that, if you do get a paper, do your read financial pages?

Ian,

I do not receive a daily newspaper. My news sources are the internet, newspapers on the internet and radio and tv news. We've subscribed to newspapers in the past, but since the internet has made news so available, they mostly just stacked up.

Friend,

Wes

I read a newspaper at lunch, there is a lot of repeat of what I see on the local tv news the day before. I guess its a sign youre gettin old when you read a newspaper and drink coffee huh? LOL

We get the Columbus Dogpatch,uh, Dispatch on a daily basis. I read it in the morning before work. We'vegot a daily for years, and we always did at home when I was a kid. In fact, we got two daily papers when we had them. One was Dem leaning, and one was GOP leaning. Now the surviving paper is going from GOP to Dem.

I used to spend close to two hours/day reading the newspaper but have cancelled it because of its far too liberal slant and the way it hounded some of the government leaders. I recently spoke with the spokesman for our Senator Crapo who used to be the news director at Idahos largest TV channel and he says that journalism has become a really "dog eat dog" medium anymore and that is why he got out of the newsroom.
I noticed that a recent study by Harvard's Kennedy School of Public Affairs that as liberal as Harvard is the results came out that the reporting of news in the US has become very biased to the liberal side. One note was that many young people of a more conservative persuasion prefer to go into human aid type jobs and more liberal young people are the ones who go into journalism. One really has to be careful anymore as to what one reads as "news."

I get most of my news through the internet. Most papers and news services have web access to their articles. When I do read a paper, I find it usually takes me about 10 minutes. The first three paragraphs of every article is all I usually need to read, everything else is filler.

I'm not sure what papers Jim was reading that he considers liberal. I kind of view his local papers, the Boise Statesman and Idaho Press-Tribune as somewhat conservative in comparison to many other publications I've read.

I get two, but I rarely get the time to read them completely.

I get Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal. I like the Financial Times because it often gives a different perspective on the news. I get the Wall Street Journal because it is the authority on business. I consider it important to be well read on issues involving investing because of my duties on the Church of the Nazarene Investment Committee.

In addition to those two news papers, I spend some time on http://www.morningstar.com each day.

We do. It's a regional paper. I guess after all day behind the computer, it's nice to read something from plain old paper. I don't read the financial pages.

We've got a great readership program on campus at Point Loma.

Copies of the New York Times, San Diego Union Tribune and USA Today are delivered each day and has really boosted the number of students reading newspapers on campus.

My personal favorite is the Washington Post, but reading online works too.

We take the Columbus Dispatch. When I was growing up my parents took a newspaper. Bob and I have always taken the paper since we got married.

We can get news from the TV and the Internet of course, but I like the newspaper for store ads and for the TV guide. It is true that we have already heard a lot of the news before we read it, but the newspaper goes into more detail, as was mentioned. It would be a lot of trouble to look at ads for every store, on the Internet. Also, by the time I would check the TV guide on the TV and decide what to watch, half of the program would be over. So, we continue to get the newspaper.

Well, it's hard for some of us to take a computer into the "readin' room".

I subscribe to the Kankakee Daily Journal, mostly for the local news. Some days I don't get around to reading it for a day or two. Don't read much of the financial page. Get a lot of news on TV and internet. Most of the TV news is national. Chicago chanells don't cover Kankakee County much.

Yes we do take a daily paper, the Spokane Spokesman-Review. Just like Vivian, my wife is a coupon cutter and I enjoy the in-depth local articles and letters to the editor...and I do read the obituaries too.

We get a weekly from my our hometown area, the Whitman County Gazette. It is a great source for news from where we grew up. It's interesting to see how different the news focus is for rural areas where farming is so important.

Read at least 3 every day (LA TIMES, SAN BERNARDINO SUN, RIVERSIDE PRESS-ENTERPRISE). Rarely, if ever, watch TV news. Sometimes listen to news on radio. I, obviously, consider the newspaper to be the best source (for me). About the only truly spontaneous thing I've ever seen on TV news is a 'car chase'.

We too get the Columbus Dispatch. While my husband reads the comics and the business section (what there is of it), I read or at least skim everything but the classifieds.

We went for a while without the paper because I insist it is delivered between the doors - we missed the comics. I also like the sports page for college football.

In fact the paper was delivered while reading this thread. But I'll finish naznet before I go get it.

I got the paper once but never had the time to read it. If I need to read something, I will read it at my parents'. I tend to get my news from the tv or internet.
