Thanks for the picture?

What is the significance of the different colored name tags?

Hey Hans, did you get together for a meal and "go Dutch?"

Looks like the name tags are assigned by height?

I don't know! Initially, I thought there was a colour per church, but that wasn't true. I guess the organisation just picked some colours they liked. :)

No, the meals were provided. We were actually in a school, where the students are trained to work in hotels and restaurants, because it was quite centrally located and the chairman of the District Church Properties Board is its director. We've never had such quality meals!!

Percentage-wise the Netherlands District has a huge representation here on Naznet. Why is that? Is it your influence, Hans?

Why such a small representation from the Brits and the Germans? Where is the rest of Europe?

Don't really know, Wilson. I am well known on the district though, because I've been district secretary for 16 years, and I've preached in most churches. But I'm not sure if all those people know I'm on NazNet.

And the Dutch are generally pretty good in English.

It was my first district assembly meeting, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! It was good to see you Hans, and many of the other people I've met before from our district, but I must say that by the end of the meeting I was quite exhausted LOL. I always love being around fellow brothers ans sisters in Christ, no matter what the reason, but I have also learned a lot about how our church is organized and functions.

I will be back! :D

Hans is being humble. Yes, it is Hans' influence that has resulted in a number of people from his district being on NazNet. NazNet wouldn't be the great community it is without Hans. I doubt that many people realize how much Hans does for NazNet. We would have difficulty getting along without him.

It seems that on average, we're about the tallest people on earth.

I think there's another NazNetter from the Netherlands. Hint here (http://www.naznet.com/community/customprofilepics/profilepic1546_2.gif) Maybe you male chauvinists didn't invite her to the picture?

I guess we have to define "NazNetter". I took all those that have posted 20 messages or more within the last 6 months. An arbitrary rule, yes. But not "male chauvinist" for it excluded Vincent van Beveren as much as Patricia Lahana. And my own Hannie.

Sure! I could also have put the line much higher. If admitting there are lines at all makes one a legalist, then, indeed, I plead guilty your honour. :basic05

And here's me thinking, Hans, that I was not in the picture because I was not present at the assembly :basic02

I am guilty however of posting next to never here.....for a number of reasons.....but mostly because I am too busy at the moment

I hope to make it to the assembly next year though! And who knows Marsha, I might make the quote and get into the picture :laughing

I hope I didn't stir up too much trouble over there. I wouldn't want to be responsible for causing international conflict via NazNet.

We'll be sure to include you!

Seriously, the picture displayed the most active ones. I really can't tell who does or does not consider him/herself to be a NazNetter. I guess some even do so if they never post or even register but read all the time. That's fine with me.

If I remember correctly, Garth and Patricia used to share a registration. Whenever either of them posted, we would see both names. And sometimes I wasn't sure which one made the post. Thus, from my perspective, they have been equally active. Now that they have separate identities/registrations, I guess I won't have such difficulty distinguishing between them.

I am so glad the Dutch delegation sticks around NazNet. It would be hard to measure the good influence you all have had on us Americans who need to be reminded that there is highly intelligent life in the church outside the United States. Thank you for being willing to communicate in a "foreign" language and bring us a picture of the Church of the Nazarene (and the world) on a grander scale.

I'm convinced that the rise of English as the most widely spoken language in the world is a continuing vote for what God did at Babel. I'm thankful for those who willingly take on the difficult task of mastering it.

You're welcome, Marsha. I still enjoy hanging around here. It has also widened my own view and abolished many stereotypical ideas I used to have.

It's actually great to be able to communicate in another language, and pretty lousy when you find out you can't. I vividly remember standing in a row ate the GA with some Nazarenes from South America. They spoke Spanish, of course, but I don't speak a word of Spanish. So despite the fact that I speak Dutch, English, some German and some French, we could not communicate! A frustrating experience.

At the last GA I was standing with a group of delegates who were from South America. I turned and started to speak to them in Spanish. As I received some strange expressions (not unusual when I speak in Spanish), I looked at their badges. They were from Brazil. My bad. But, of course, they were gracious.

I asked Daphne (our distr. secr.) what's with the colors, but she just said she made it a nice mix while printing...
