I certainly don't claim any credit for the steps that Dr. Porter is taking on the Southwest Region, but I applaud what he is doing. This appears to be a great example of what I have been calling "Vison Casting."

Here is the story -- http://www.ncnnews.com/nphweb/html/ncn/article.jsp?sid=10000011&id=10005950

It is a clear example of what I believe the role of a General Superintendent should be -- leading those for whom he or she is responsible in prayer, development of an understanding of the mission and organizing for accomplishment of the mission.

I am thrilled to see that positive change doesn't have to wait until the General Assembly. We can all get to work now.

All of us who have pledged to pray for renewal should join the Southwest Region in praying as they are praying.

Please note the signature line at the bottom of the NCN article. The article is from the Board of General Superintendents!!!! They really do listen.

There's not a doubt in mind that naznet has had an influence on the direction the SW region is going. I'm just not sure if the thought of a GS reading anything I've posted on here is encouraging or really scary!

Note to all general, district, or future regional superintendents: disregard any posts made on Mondays.

I was just about to write in asking how your campaign for GS was going. I'll make my ususal generous offer - the one I always make to people I know who are running for something - I'll be happy to either come out for you or against you. You get to decide which one you think will help the most.

It would not bother me for any of the six generals to read anything I write on Naznet. They are doing a great work, and need to read on here what the general concensus is about things, in order to know some things that may need to be changed or not changed.

Our only lady general is from the south but she is not, as some people are called, an old fogey or fanatic, about things. She has very much wisdom about what essentials should be.

And, I dearly love and appreciate Bro. Porter. He is like a fresh breath of air. He, in my opinion is not to be feared whatever direction, he may think we should take. in our zion.

Talmadge Johnson was no one to fear either. He knows Anne Hood, and how she acts. Neither of us have ever been able to get the other straightened out. I would not fear him, if he was a current GS.

Well, let's just say that all of them are wonderful servants of God. If we keep electing the type of people that we do, everything will be OK. Let's keep the generals.

By the way, with several potential voters here; please tell me we can get two of you to name David Pettigrew on the first ballot, so he has enough votes to be assigned a number for the later rounds of voting. That would be wonderful.

You're going to get at least three names this time, so you can use one on David.

I would say my campaign is about where John McCain's was six months ago. I'm broke and carrying my own suitcases.

I'm on the ballot on our district for General Sunday School Convention. My plan is coming together (he he he.)

Well, for what it's worth, you can certainly count on the vote of at least one Congregationalist (that is, if I was able to vote).

I thought the whole point of being a Congregationalist was being able to vote!

Yeah, that's true. However, getting them to vote for ANYONE for GS might be a stretch. They're kinda' not wired that way.
