How do I save to larger size when I click on it like you do.

And thank you - I have been trying very hard to get it right.

I am sure you know that you can set your computer screen size in the desktop settings various sizes. Maybe you did this by mistake one day and your icons were really large or small and you had to change it back to where you were familar. I said all that to say this....

I save all my backgrounds 1024 x 768 which is standard screen size by most video projectors and can be used for your desktop computer screen as well.

I asked Scott to bump up the screen size on the board to the above size as I had to resize all my slides back to 800 x 600 which the board was set at previous.

It is hard to explain but you can save photos two ways. One by pixel size which is 1024 x 768 pixels or by file size which is basically the same in a way. More pixels .....more file size. So you can adjust the file size...by reducing the pixels down in any given area. You need a good photo program to do this. If my 1024 x 768 size is too large in file size, I would adjust the number of pixels down to fit the board. Like aaa... say my file size was 400kb, I would need to bump it down to 99kb in order to post on the board even if it were 1024 x 768 in pixel size.

I am sure I messed that explanation up and someone can explain much better than I. All I know is that I have to reduce my backgrounds down in quality in order to fit the board requirements.

I think you proabably are having problems in quality (file size) so that is the reason your backgrounds are smaller.

I reduce my backgrounds down in quality ...just enough so I don't get too much graininess in my backgrounds but they still are 1024 x 768. PowerPoint will except 800 x 600 size well in quality though...so don't be discouraged if you are posting in a smaller screen size. I sometimes reduce my screen size down to 800 x 600 because the pixels need to be reduced to fit the board and I don't want to get too much graininess in the slide. As long as your file size is larger, your picture will still look fine on PowerPoint.

Confusion, I know...it is hard to explain and to understand! If you were here behind the computer, I could show you much better how to do this. So I guess you are going to have to take a road trip up my way next time you are in Halifax.

OK I am going to try something.

I purposely shrunk my size to fit the board.

Let me try it your size.

Just practicing

Your last slide is
Pixel dimensions - 900 pixel width by 675 pixel height
Your resolution (important) is 175 pixels / inch

Your slide below fixed by me is:
Pixel dimensions - 1024 pixels width by 768 pixel height
I reduced the file size down to 85.15kb.

If you drop your resolution to 75 pixels / inch you might have better results with the 1024 by 768... which will give you a smaller file size as well.

I believe it works out the same as I did above? But I could be wrong.

Neat

OK I am trying to wrap my brain around this.

I am using Coral Paint Shop X.

If you know this program - what is the best way to do this?

I am still playing with the program.

ok, I click on the picture to bring it up full size. When I right click on properties, this is what I get:

936 x 702
file size 87,190 kb

I have never been able to get a full file resolution from NazNet. This is about as high as it gets.

My screen resolution is set at 1400 x 900.

Mark, that would calculate correctly. You are set differently than I.

I am set at 1024 x 768 pixels.

Because your screen size is larger than my picture, it will not fill the screen.

You must have one of those wide screens, eh?!

Marilyn, I am not familar with Corel Paint Shop X but I do know Corel puts out excellent drawing / photo programs.

There must be a starting box (maybe "Open New" ? ) where you would begin to draw or fill? Also a preference setting in "Open New" to select what size of window/box you want to begin with? You would start with "new" and then set the size.

You can open another file (photo) at the same time in that program and check the size. You can paste the photo into the new box by selecting and then copy. That way you can know what size your photo is in regards to the opened box that was selected in the corrected size you want to work with.

What is your computer screen size set at....regarding Marks' post above? Go to desktop and then open Control Panel > Display > Settings. Check your screen size there and it will give you the size your screen is set at. Your church computer should be set at the same screen size in order for your slides to fit during transfer of files from one to another.

Keep playing around with that program and find where all the settings are located. Most all similar programs work the same so what I mentioned above should also work in that program.

Corel programs usually come with some nice photo clipart pictures. You would find them in one of the Corel program folders so you could use as well on your church screen. You might have to resize them as well to fit the screen without taking up too much file size.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I do have, and it is great. When we decided to upgrade our computers, we wanted one that would last (technically) for a few years, so we went all out. This is a widescreen laptop. And the resolution is not even set to the max.
