Yesterday my husband and I attended the funeral of one our district pastors. Brother Eddy had served his church for 50 years....YES the same church! He was 85 years of age, and was still preaching and pastoring until this past weekend. He and his wife raised 8 children and now have many many grandchildren, great and great greats!
Rev. Eddy loved his community so much, that he bought old delapidated houses and fixed them up and then rented them for a cheap rate to low income families. He was very loved and respected in his community.
I am amazed that he was at his church 50 years!

I envy those with long pastorates like this. The potential it gives to be an agent of grace and a parson to a community is immeasurable.

His idea of buying and renting is to be admired too.

I'm sure his legacy will live on.

He has already heard our Master say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Praise the Lord for a life reflecting the Master's love for mankind.

The Lutheran church I used to attend had a pastor who was there 45 years. He was fresh out of seminary and some there thought he'd never last. I'm sure he preached most of their funerals.
