As you know, General Assembly will be in the happiest place on earth this time around.

Do you share my fear that Orlando will present too many opportunities to skip out on important spiritual and business matters?

Fear not, little flock. Your future leader is on the case. You can read my-dare I say it-inspired plan right about here. (http://dp4gs.blogspot.com/2008/04/one-magical-assembly.html)

My husband said he won't be a delegate, but he'll vote for you.

I like the charge for the communion. It would be just like that place to charge you for every little thing. :q)

After the reprimand the gallery got for applauding the last time, I'd hate to see what would happen if some of us show up with placards and signs.

There isn't much to do in Orlando David, it is still a developing area.

Does anyone think Mickey is available for lunch?

I've been trying to picture what the assembly will be like with Pettigrew for GS placards all over the place. It makes me kind of sad that I won't be there for the fun :laughing

David, you are SO sacrilegious....the whole Sanctification ride needs to start out with the first half of the ride being in total darkness so you can't see the twists and turns and loops. Then you begin the chain climb for the big drop off, after you pass the flashing warning sign "entire sanctification ahead" in the middle of the ride, you freefall and burst out into daylight, supplimented by spotlights in your face for nighttime riding or cloudy days.

Uh..oh...your starting to rub off on me.

At one point would the camera capture your screaming face, so that you might pay 15.00 to have your moment of sanctification put on a keychain?

Not meaning to be too conservative for some of you-but when we make jokes and hysterical laughing, out of something, and at the same times referring to sanctification, that comes about by the entering in of perfect love, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, and is coming into our being, by the power of His Holy Spirit, are we being sacriligeous--as someone else mentioned. Is nothing sacred anymore? Start throwing the stones, after I get a little headstart of running. OK?

I grew up in a very legalistic church which really messed me up. They basically had this idea of the "moment of sanctification put on a keychain" but it didn't change their hearts. When david put those thoughts into words, I was amused cuz it matched thoughts going on in my heart I've had lately trying to process how I feel about my former church. But, I apologize if that came across the wrong way to you.

No need to run, Anne. Yes, many things are sacred to me, including the work of the Holy Spirit. It's not the Holy Spirit I'm poking fun at, it's how we get in the way and make His work much more complicated than it needs to be. My journey to understanding sanctification definitely felt like a roller coaster ride at times. So, sorry I offended you, but I was more laughing at myself than anything.

In other words, I'm not making fun of the doctrine. I'm making fun of our various attempts at understanding it.

The only time I saw Mickey at the last GA, he was eating at Steak & Shake, so perhaps he's already booked.

I understand what you mean David. While the work of God in my life is very serious, I think that some of the stuff that we have built around that work is humourous.

When I look back on some parts of my spiritual journey, I can either laugh or cry. I choose to laugh. :)

Mickey Cox, if any don't know him, works for the global NYI office. He is a youth ministry veteran. He also happens to be a giant fan of all things Disney, and, I believe, has even gathered in Orlando for the "fans of Disney" convention. So, I imagine global NYI convention will present a crisis of options for him this time around!

Perhaps, but I'd suggest the hot dogs instead. They're much more flavorful. :basic07

Christian.
Holiness.
Missional.
Goofy.

What does the color yellow stand for?

David,

Can we have trading cards of the G.S.'s and maybe even the D.S's, the Districts and the World mission areas.
You know they'd have stats on them like # saved, churches pastored, money raised for missions, miles traveled or for districts they could have a outline of the district with stars for each church and then a list of D.S.'s , number of members, number of churches started or closed we'd have to have some momento to take home

Actually, that does sound like an interesting idea. I remember last time the Caribbean region had cards made with the pastors' pictures on them which I passed around to the prayer group at church for people to pray for the pastors.
