Last Saturday, we had great weather and also, the Dutch Railroads had a special offer, they call it the Spring Tour. For € 39, two people can ride the trains all day long, wherever you want to go, during a day in the weekend, and 1st class as well! That was real cheap, so we took the train to Schin op Geul, a tiny place in the south of the country. The only area of the Netherlands that has true hills. After 2,5 hours we arrived and took a walk there. Here are some pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/h.deventer/2008ZuidLimburg

Hans,

Thanks for sharing. Interestingly, except for the architecture, the landscape looks very much like Southern Ohio.

It does? Then that must be quite a nice area.

Well, I think the architecture makes a lot of the difference. There are some very poor areas with deteriorating structures in some areas. The lay of the land is very pleasant and can be quite beautiful. It certainly isn't as dramatic as other U.S. locations (like the West). Our area is known as the "foothills" of the Appalachian Mountains.

The old geographer always appreciate seeing pictures of your homeland. Thanks, Hans.
