Yesterday, I bought a lens and the guy who sold it also showed me the Lowepro Slingshot camera bag. I was impressed. Seems like the ultimate solution: you can wear it on your back, but easily slide it forwards so you can open the bag in front of you. Anyone ever used this bag? Any comments?

Here is a website that shows it, scroll down to find the text in English

I bought one (AW100) before going to Hawaii last year. It is great. As you said, you wear it on your back, but it is easily swung around to the front to remove your camera or whatever else you need. The main compartment has some adjustable dividers and a place for extra memory cards. There are a couple of other compartments for other accessories or whatever. There is also an attached cloth in the main compartment to protect your LCD and an all-weather cover tucked away in a little compartment that is easy to get to if you run into rain.

I carried my Canon Digital Rebel, an extra lens, external flash, extra memory cards, extra batteries, battery charger, lens cleaner, and a USB cable. In the top pocket, I put my wallet and a few other things and didn't carry a purse on the trip. It's amazing how much you can carry in one of those and that's without attaching any of the extra pouches that are available. It made it easy to carry my camera, accessories, and personal items on the plane and it fits under the seat.

I highly recommend it, Hans, but I'm sure you will want a larger bag than I have. I went for the smallest one because I was concerned about the weight and how it would affect my back. I didn't have any problems.

Here is a video (http://vidego.productvideocast.com/player.php?p=06f3925r) that shows how it works. Here is a picture of me, hiking through Akaka Falls State Park carrying that bag. It's about .3 mile around that trail. And, yes, I did climb those steps!

Thanks, Betty! That sounds like an enthusiastic recommendation! I'll look for it.
