i honestly have no plans, at the moment, Marsha.
We have had Services in previous assignments. This area is more than a wet county - it is soaking. So, that we don't want to be responsible for our people should they be on the road home from the service and get hit by a drunk driver.
i think this is a reason that i have no real plans, i am use to planning around the church - and i can't do that here.
i will eagerly watch the thread.

We may go over to our friends' home - the one who has brain tumors - for a little while. Nothing big planned, though.

and plan to go for a nice steak dinner on Saturday evening.
I will be *trying* to get alot of sleep. My daughter, Kristy, will be entering the hospital Sunday evening, and the doctors will begin to induce her labor on Monday morning. I plan to be at the hospital for a few days with her.
Please remember Kristy, Ryan, and *big brother* Jackson as we anticipate the arrival of Austin William Greene within the next few days!
Happy New Year to all of you, and may God richly bless you!

It looks like the poll needs another choice: Nothing! That's what's going on around here.
I guess they didn't plan a party at church because of the next day being Sunday. I'm not sure, though.

Well, we will be having family time most of the evening -- until we all get tired and fall asleep. We are the original party animals, I'm telling you!!! HA HA HA
Those New Year's Eve romantic dinners with my husband that you speak of in the poll, Marsha, went out of style, oh, I'd say about 20 years ago.........LOL

Well, I am scheduled to work this new years eve (my regular day anyway) and because the work goup I do and because there are e two people out until after the first of the new year, I am going to church and then work New Years day as well.
I love my job and I don't mind working holidays. In fact, I prefer it.
My God Bless your New Year abundantly with good health, lots of laughter, few tears, and serindipitous moments.

New Year's Day? Well, that's another story -- I also have to work 4 hours on New Year's Day evening. I actually volunteered this time.
It's a hospital and everyone has to work SOME holidays. I'm just trying to share the load, I guess.

I need a "none of the above".
Carl is working an overnight shift at the group home. Lindsay has gone back to Waterloo. Leisha has been invited to a party.
So I shall probably go to bed when I am tired and sleep through the coming of 2006.
If I happen to be awake at midnight, I will probably watch the ball drop.

Well, now I will be helping out with "Room In the Inn" which is where the churches feed the homeless. At the Methodist church where I am involved in a bible study, they participate in a program the city has where the homeless will come to the church and sleep for the night and be fed. So, I will be helping with that starting at 5:00. I do not anticipate being there late though.
Being involved in a homeless ministry is not really my calling, so this is really going outside my box.

That sounds great! Here in Tucson, they had "Operation Deep Freeze" for several years (I'm not sure if it is still operating in the same manner these days). When the temperature would fall below a certain point, several organizations were prepared to take in the homeless, give them a warm bed for the night, and feed them a couple of hot meals and make a lunch for them the next day.
Our church participated in this, and Bert was in charge of it, so of course, I helped. He really enjoyed that ministry and would probably participate again if he has the opportunity.

My husband and 2 kids will be in Indiana with my mother-in-law. My 16 year old and I stayed behind because she had the flu. So my plans would have been to stay up till midnight and celebrate with my family with a bottle of sparkling grape juice, then go to bed at 12:15. Now...I just don't know....My 16 year old and I may still stay up. I do know, I'll be missing my husband, A LOT!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad you are doing this! My husband worked for years at a homeless mission, and he really misses it. More and more, my own heart is being pulled in that direction, too.

Would you believe that Carl and I did a service for the homeless on our wedding day? Carl was saved at the Salvation Army Harbour Light. We wanted to acknowledge this on our wedding day so after the wedding and reception we went and did the evening service (which is open to the street people...afterwards they have a bowl of soup).
For many years, we spent most of Christmas Day at the Harbour Light as well. Christmas Dinner was usually served in seven shifts (150 each setting). While one group was eating, the other needed to be entertained so we did music, carols etc.
Christmas Day is very different for us now.

From 11 p.m. to midnight we will be in church. The church that Paul & I used to attend does a New Years Eve Communion that he, his mom and I usually attend. Before that depends on what my mother-in-law does. If she does not go to her Sunday School activity, I expect that we will be at her house. If she does go, who knows. After church I expect to get home ASAP so I can be my delightful self (that IS in here SOMEWHERE!) to teach Kids Zone on Sunday a.m. As SOON as church is over on Sunday, Paul and I are leaving for Frankenmuth to stay at the Bavarian Inn. Can you say FIVE hot tubs and pools?!? This was part of my Christmas gift from Paul :-D

For the first time in years, Mike and I will be home alone. We usually have a house full of people with food and games everywhere. But since Mike has to be bright and shiney in his pulpit the next day, we are choosing to stay home. I am making garlic shrimp with rice pilaf for the two of us.
