I want to weigh in on the "NazNet Friends" feature. For those who have not discovered the feature, when we did the upgrade of the software a couple of weeks ago a new feature was added. It is now possible for any NazNet member to be a "friend" of other NazNet members. If you click on a person's member page, you will see that person's "friends."
First of all, I consider each and every one of you to be my friend. I wouldn't start to know how to go through the member list and select some of you to be my friend while others wouldn't be. If I invited everyone to be my friend, then the feature would be meaningless. If I select some and not others, then I risk offending one group or the other. For that reason, I have decided not to use the feature other than to accept when someone asks to be my "friend."
I know that several have expressed that the feature doesn't really fit NazNet. Others seem to be enjoying it. I don't know how easy it would be to disable that feature, so I am willing to let it stay there as long as everyone understands that the reason I have not invited you to be my friend is because I have not invited anyone to be my friend. It really doesn't require an invitation to be my friend.

I have not seen the importance of using the "Friends" feature. If I want to contact someone personally I can leave them an instant message or send them an email.
I had not quite figured out the purpose of it.
I, too, would have to request many many people to be my friend. I do not know of anyone on NazNet that I dislike. LOL

I am with you both.
There are some who probably like it.
Since it isn't hurting anything, we may as well keep it.
I just go with the flow.

So I gather that vBulletin added the "Friends" feature to be something similar to Facebook? I'm still trying to figure that one out. Seems the only way to talk with my kids is through text messaging, IM or Facbook. Regular talking on the phone is "boring".

Dave, I have adopted the exact policy for the same reasons. I don't have a problem with the feature being there I just do want it to be clear that I am not using it for reasons of the burden to try and be comprehensive in affirming all the people that I would consider friends on this board.

Thanks for leaving it. I think it is going to meet a lot of needs. I've already discovered that it can be possible to have chats with each other on it like we did back on the old board. I like it. I've just discovered that I really have more friends than I thought I had. :)
Yes, I consider everyone on NazNet to be my friend, if they want to be. But, then I have had experiences on the board when I tried to be involved with some and they never would respond. It's kinda hard to know who is your friend that never talks to you. That's just my personal feeling.
Thanks to all of you who have said that you would let me add you as a friend. I have added many, many, and I know time will not allow for a daily chat with everyone, but, at least I am available if someone would like to say hello.
There are so many people who are registered but not active. Will they be able to take advantage of the new program? If so, it could provide an opportunity for friendships to be made, especially, if someone only lurks all the time. They are here and they want to be a part of NazNet or they wouldn't be registered.
Who knows what kind of doors God is making available for us to use? I'm hoping for the possibilities to make room for NazNet's continued growth.
Like in the huge churches we all know that it is not possible to be able to make close friends with everyone. Even here on NazNet we have grown so big that I can't read all the posts and I can't possibly have the time to be be involved in them.
So, there you go. My two cents worth. :)
