in the memorial service he conducted for Rev. Orv Halley this afternoon. He brought it to conclusion by saying each of us had a decision as to whether we were going to be as passionate believers and followers of Jesus Christ as Pastor Halley who upon his retirement took over the directorship of an independent evangelical missionary group called New Horizons. Yes, there was an opportunity to go to the altar. Dr. Ketchum said that they went places that the Church of the Nazarene mission outreach had not risked going into such as Tibet and other 10/40 locales. Orv who lived across the hall in the dormitory at NNC when I was a Senior and he was a Sophmore had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and died on May 9. He was a big man physically and spiritually. He had pastored Nampa Fairview church for the last 25 years of his ministerial career after pastoring three places in California in the 60s and early 70s.
A former Idaho Congressional candidate who was on the New Horizon governing board made like a Nazarene and took a love offering for Mrs. Halley. So it really was a Nazarene memorial service.
