just was thinking of Brad today :basic04
anyway, even tho I got my head ripped off in several posts about healthcare in the US, I want to reiterate again, that no matter what, Medically needy will kick in and pay your health bills so your family is not ruined. I know tensions are high about government healthcare etc, but again another personal example...
a neighbor (self employed with no health care) had a major accident in which his hand was nearly severed...of course 911 took him to nearest hospital which did nothing other than bandage him up and refer him to ortho doc (another whole issue) and the surgeon advised him that the surgery cost 24,000 dollars...but DID tell him about medically needy program (kudos to that surgeon)....he had his surgery and medically needy IS paying for it. His cost??? paying taxes, which is exactly what Medicaid was set up for. It is NOT welfare and people need to get that ghetto mindset out of their minds...
anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programs (or scrabble games)

It's really good to know about that program, Terri. When Brad was sick, we were just bombarded with advice and insistence that Brad would get better if.... IF he followed some diet or another (everyone that told us about a diet told us that THEIR diet was the one that was guaranteed to work ~ even though those diets often had conflicting requirements) or IF we moved back to the States because NOBODY that needs medical care is refused (although several doctors and nurses disputed that idea).
What ended up keeping us here was the knowledge that God is as capable of healing through the Aussie doctors as He is through the American ones. We both felt God's call to be here and the call didn't let up even though Brad was sick. The call is still strong.
There was a home health care organization here that helped us by coordinating doctors and meds and giving us free advice and medical supplies, even picking up meds for us when needed and bringing a hospital bed to our house free of charge.
I'm sorry you felt attacked. Thank you for forgiving him. :-)
It's really good that God provides for us wherever we are and in whatever circumstances. It doesn't feel good to need those provisions and sometimes they don't feel adequate but I'm glad you're putting the word out about medically needy. It'll be a help to somebody that needs it.

I was thinking of Brad on the 22nd also because my Bible study was ending. At the end we sing God be with us til we meet again. The chorus is:
Til we meet
Til we meet
Til we meet at Jesus' feet
Til we meet
Til we meet
God be with us til we meet again
I tried to find the rest of the words on the internet but didn't have any luck.
At the end of last year I had shared a passage from Romans that I had shared with Brad. So I had been thinking of him during the sharing time and especially during the ending song. What joy that we have this promise.

Yep that's it - thanks for finding it - I think the words are extremely meaningful. We only sang the chorus at the very end - given that it is 6 verses - however Gina we did sing all 6 - in fact every week we sing every verse of all three songs we sing at BSF.

Tho' this is a serious thread, Alisa's post had some humor in it. So, you mean, Alisa, that if I were to write something with 6 verses, rather than 3, that I would not have to # them: 1,2,4,5,7,8? :basic05
Yes, I've done BSF out in AZ & here in MI before. Good organization, but winter has kept me from continuing it here past that one winter I tried to keep going throughout the winter.

Hmmmmm, I guess I missed the healthcare discussion. Oh well. My son's ex-fiance (we won't go there) fell while at her apartment. She was in the attic and missed a step. It was not a finished attic, so she fell right through the drywall. My son ran to her as soon as I called him.
How did it work out? She had no insurance, so could not afford the ambulance to the hospital. My son drove her. Her parents had put away some money for her wedding, that was used for medical bills. It didn't cover all of it, and she went into serious debt. She is no longer in college - part of that could be attributed to financial worries.
I used to consider myself conservative. I'm rethinking that. People that work should be able to afford insurance. I don't know whose healthcare plan I prefer - but something has to be done. It has to be reasonable, affordable and has to cover those in need.

At least as long as my BSF group is the one singing it. I couldn't help but thinking of you when I wrote the other post. And somehow I think Brad would appreciate the humor even in a serious thread.
