Jon, something must have gone wrong with #2. Looks very strange.

Hans,

The second shot has some texture added to the limestone face. Now that I look at it after editing last night.... I did too much.

Jon,

Your photos look and awful lot like Old Man's Cave in southeast Ohio. Are you sure you didn't trip down here and not tell a soul?!?!?! :laughing

Cindi,

Driving to Starved Rock was bad enough! Actually the trip there was no problem, after hiking 9-3:30 I was a bit tired... (the 50lb. photo backpack didn't help) It was the drive home that did me in!

Getting around the Greater Chicago area during rush has been known to create a few white hair....!

There are some wonderful locations in the upper midwest for photography and I've been blessed to travel to a few of them! There are many more on my list of places to go, many of them I have a note attached reminding me of what time of year would work best... I missed Starved Rock's timetable by a few weeks - which explains the trickle of water from many of the waterfalls!

Judy,

I don't get to go out shooting landscape much anymore. It's been portraits, weddings and tabletop stuff (things that pay) for far too long.

I find that I'm too busy making a living to take the time to do something I really love...

Hopefully that will change!

I usually only post one or two shots at a time, today I decided to post more to give a good sample of what the park is like.

Thanks, Jon, for the beautiful scenic pictures.
I know what will be my desktop image(s) for a while.

Actually, I was thinking it reminded of Watkins Glen State Park in NY...especially the waterfall.

OK... stop it!

Now I've two more places on my list to visit!!!

For some reason I thought that my list of places I wanted to shoot was going down in number.... now it seems to be going up in number!

I can only take off so much time....

LOL,

Jon

Interestingly, last week I was visiting my aunt and found some old photos. Turns out that my hard working grandparents did take one vacation in their lifetimes after all - to Starved Rock State Park. Here is a picture of two of my aunts. This was from around 1950.
