Hey I'm new to Naznet and I am just wondering what you think. I love playing guitar and as many people there are on this site there has to be some who share the same passion for playing guitar as I do. Soooo. Which are you, a Gibson or Fender fan? Or...neither?

Personally I like the sound of the old Fenders, but nothing plays like a Gibson, especially the vintage Les Pauls.

Which do you prefer?

Very true, vintage LP's are amazing! Especially, the classic 59' LP. My whole life I have been a huge Gibson fan because my favorite guitarist played a Les Paul, so I have always like the Les Paul. However, over the past couple of years that has slightly changed. I own a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003 and I love it. However, I do like the blues sound that you can get from a fender.

A little jealous....

Don't be jealous, I don't play it well. I'd rather have less of a guitar and more guitar skill. In fact, I'm so bad at playing that I had to get a good guitar to help me sound that much better.

It's a DCX1E which is for me a fabulous guitar and it does sound great, but a lot of "purists" wouldn't be caught dead playing it because it has a composite body. It was the only Martin I could justify for what I use it for, which is personal edification (it is the least expensive Martin I think). Also, I got it used for a bit more than half price of new.

My bass is a Epiphone Thunderbird so I guess I'm in the Gibson camp.

Kelcey,

I know you have no idea what guitar I play, and you're just dying to know. I'll tell you!

- My electric is an Ibanez, but if I had to choose between your two choices, I'd say Gibson fo' sho'

- My main acoustic is a Breedlove.

In the spirit of the thread, I thought it'd be fun to share pictures of our guitars. I only have the one guitar, but some of you (Gary Creely where are you) could share a lot of pictures.

So here's my baby as it sits in my office this morning. The picture was taken with my phone so the color is a bit off. This is probably the last acoustic I'll buy:

I'm so bad that I don't actually play guitar, but I play with it.

When I couldn't learn well enough to be in the band 30+ years ago I became the soundman-something I was very good at. But still have my love of musical instruments and pray for God to give me the talent to actually play.

Since he said he can't actually play, and I can (kinda) - I guess jealous of the Martin. My Breedlove ain't no pushover either, though.

If it's electric, I am definitely a Fender kind of guy. Give me the quack of a vintage Tele and I am a happy camper. On the acoustic side of the equation though... I play one of two Breedloves - either a 6-string jumbo maple, or a concert sized 12-string.

My personal physician's name is Fred Fender and he plays cello.

If I were to get an electric, I think I'd want a Telecaster. But if someone wanted to give me a Les Paul I wouldn't punch him in the face!

I play a 1964 Fender Esquire which I bought new. I also play a 1963/4 Fender Precision Bass which I acquired in 1970. I have a 1989 Martin D18 and a 1969 Aria Classical guitar. I use the Esquire and the Martin most frequently to lead Sunday morning worship.

My next electric will be a Paul Reed Smith. My next acoustic will be a Takamine.
