To honor my brother who was killed in WWII and a nephew in VietNam I will be attending the VFW service at the cemetary where my brother is buried in Meridian, ID. Praying for our troops who are risking their lives for our freedoms. My two flags will be in their places as always on either side of my garage door. If there was a band concert in the park or a parade to attend I would be their too.

I stopped by the cemetary today where my grandparents are buried. As I waited for my mom I took the time to stop by the graves that had the flags/medals indicating they had served. It was interesting to see the eras served because it is an old cemetary. Civil War, Spanish War, WW1, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam were all covered.

I will be going down to the cemetary where my parents and niece is buried, they usually have a special ceremony on Memorial Day to honor the veterans. My dad was in WWII, and his name is engraved on the Veterans Memorial Wall.

Here is a picture that I took after his name was added to the list of others.

In Loving Memory,
Peggy

Linda and I will be attending a parade and memorial service in Sandown, New Hampshire, where the life story our foster son, LCRP Robert L. Moscillo, will be told.

Interestingly, I was informed of this service by a person who googled Bob's name, followed it to Naznet, joined Naznet as a means of contacting me to invite us to the service. So far, that's the only way I have heard of this event.

Last week, north of Concord, NH, I was driving back from a job, and noticed a highway sign indicating that the highway was a Purple Heart Highway, dedicated to Robert L. Moscillo. Family members hadn't been aware of that designation, either.

The little town I grew up in always had a parade ending at the cemetery. I was in the band so I have vivid memories of it :) I also remember how some of the girls would never eat b'fast before this march and would always pass out at the cemetery during the speeches. And then the trumpeter would try to play Taps. The best one was always away for the weekend so the one who tried to play it always struggled on that last high note. I thought of that when I heard the memorial service on CNN. It just wasn't the same to me without that bad note there at the end. Ha! :laughing

My cousin Jill, who grew up in an urban environment, always thought our hometown parades and fireworks were facsinating. I don't think Harrisburg had any parades. It does have a festival along the river though. I didn't get out to see it.
