Even as a pastor's wife. Yes.
Sometimes I am just tired of DOING so many things.
Sometimes at the end of a quarter I wish I had a month off before I had to start teaching the next quarter.
Sometimes I am just so tired of the critical spirits I don't want to hear anymore for a while, so wish I could play hookie.
Sometimes in the past, the tension or the problems of the church wear at me until I do not look forward to going to church.
But each time, it passes.
Sometimes, we go on vacation. Once in a while I just do not feel very well and take a Wednesday night or Sunday night off, get in my nightgown and watch a movie instead. I really do not feel well, but I could have forced myself to go.
But, God rewards those who hang in there through the fire and smoke and emotionally draining stuff and help his/her church make it through, or helps himself/or herself to make it through.
If we give up and just stop going, we lose. And our church suffers because they need us.
I could tell you stories. But I won't. Nuff said.
Sometimes all we need is a nap or short vacation.

Did you ever feel like taking a leave of absence from church?
Sure. From Jan 2006 till October 2007, I've had no administrative responsibilities. Which was good.

I think we all need a sabbatical - or sabbath - from our responsibilities at church. I always think "they can't do it without me..." so I keep going.:laughing

During the month of August my Church does not have Wednesday Night and other weekday or weeknight activities and only has its Sunday Services and Childrens Church or Sunday School during the service. This has bothered me in the past but I can see the logic behind it. It gives those in the Church who are involved the various miniteries a break to recoup before everything starts up again in September.
The other thing they do is give the Sunday School teachers the option of teaching every other Sunday with another teacher teaching the other Sundays. Those who teach every Sunday are encouraged to take a break during the Summer.

The church I used to attend gave me that feeling, in a strong way. ;)

I am currently reading a book entitled, "So You Don't Want to go to Church Anymore?".
It is a theology of the Church told in a narrative form. As I am reading it, I feel affirmed that I am not the first person to notice that much of the activity in a local church has no more eternal value than an episode of American Idol.

Tell you when one of the hardest times was to keep going ... so I did take a few small breaks ... after Danny died. People react so strangely sometimes to death, "don't know what to do with you," plus church being the place where one's most likely to see what's missing in their life once a mate is gone .......
