I dropped the older Kodak DC4800 (right) onto our patio (Isn't that covered in "Care for your Camera 101?" which mangled the control knob quite sufficiently - can you say "inoperable" ??? But it's still quite usable - for point/click photography, which I do most of the time anyway.

The newer Kodak DX7630 will no longer copy photos onto the memory cards, so I'm limited by the internal memory - can take approx 50 pics then need to download.

Sooooooooooooooo, I'm kinda hindered in my photo taking journeys.

If any of you feel "led" to purchase a gift certificate sufficient to replace either/both of the above, I'll be forever grateful.

:laughing

ps - you need not bother reminding me that six of the previously published pictures were taken with the above cameras, AFTER the problems became issues.

Someone else already is.

Nelson,

Sorry to hear of your troubles... You may want to try cleaning the contacts of your memory card with a pencil eraser. It's a trick used when batteries stop working as well.

Hopefully it's an easy fix, otherwise it's time to go shopping!

I have three memory cards - I’ve cleaned all three with a pencil eraser, as suggested - however, when I insert the cards I receive the following notices:

Memory card requires formatting

a) continue
b) cancel

I chose a) continue

Formatting will delete everything on memory card

a) continue
b) cancel

I chose a) continue

I get the same error messages over and over again.

RATZ!

That isn't good....

The problem becomes it's not even cost effective to have the camera's look at. you have to figure they charge about $65.00 to look at the camera without fixing anything...

I had my Fuji S3 die a couple months ago... They wanted $ 470.00 to replace the logic board after it got fried by static.... the they turned around and offered me the same amount for the camera "as is"....

That's why I took my ol' Nikon D100 off the shelf to use as my "carry camera"...
