Hi, Folks -
I notice that the Southern Baptist Convention is preparing for its upcoming large gathering and is considering some folks for Pres. of the SBC. Through their publication, Baptist Press News (www.bpnews.net), some SBC leaders made a questionnaire for the "contenders" for the job of President. The questions and answers are posted on BPNews (I keep up with the Baptists occassionally -- just a hobby :q))....Anyway, if YOU were asked to compose a questionnaire for potential (or existing) GS candidates that would help people (delegates) decide for whom to vote, what would it look like?

Somewhere between 600 and 1000 questions, a variety of response options. Only 15 or 20 would actually be pertinent to the position. If they could make it through the whole thing without complaining, their name goes on the ballot.

It would also be interesting to see their answers to questions like, "If you could be any Disney Character, which would it be and why?" or "What is your favorite six letter word ending in f?"

Unlike some, I guess I see this as a legitimate question. One that would greatly benefit the process so that delegates are not just voting name recognition, or popularity, etc. I'll think more, but I guess the obvious interview type questions: strengths? weaknesses? ministerial experience? highlights of your ministry? how do you understand the superintendency? formal theological education? vision for the church of the nazarene, etc.

One I've always thought would be a good question for anyone in virtually any position is:

Name one person with whom you frequently disagree who could do this job well. Why did you choose them?

Hmmm ... since Snoopy's not a Disney character, I'm not sure. As for the 6-letter word ending in "F" ... how about "RELIEF"? You could put that as the last question on the questionnaire, and then they could tell how they feel at having completed the entire thing! :laughing
