This board is way too quiet... is anyone taking pictures?

I've been doing commercial work... weddings, portraits and tabletop stuff.

So much that I haven't taken a pictures for fun lately.

I got a celosia plant from a church pot-luck centerpiece (no one else wanted to take it home!). I think they're fun looking plants. I also took another bird picture, also through dirty glass. I am really a novice when it comes to birds... can someone tell me what kind of birds these may be?

This HP11a is being flown by Jan (Yan) Zatloulal. The pictures were taken on Jun 7th near Nampa.

John, Soaring is a great sport. Every year the Nampa pilots sponsor the Idaho Soaring Regatta at Mackay, Idaho during the first two weeks of August. (This year it starts the last week of July.) The link contains pictures taken during the 2006 Regatta (http://www.soaridaho.com/photogallery/Mackay_2006/).

I can give you a couple links to Wisconsin soaring sites if you and/or your wife want to take a ride.

Wayne,

For my wife's 40th birthday she decided that she wanted to try hang gliding...

She's been soaring when she was still in high school and a student member of the EAA. I'm sure that she'd do it again in a heartbeat!

John, you mentioned the EAA. My sailplane is homebuilt as is the HP11a in the pictures I posted.

Here is the Soaring Society of America's (SSA) "where to fly (http://www.ssa.org/sport/wheretofly.asp)" webpage. Click on the map and it will direct you to the affiliated soaring locations.

Mourning Doves.
We have a few here in northeast Texas, but when we lived in the Dallas area, I had over a dozen that visited our feeders.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Those Celosias are very pretty.

Aha! I guessed right. Not too cool re birds, either, you see ... unless they're something that's bright-colored/very common, such as cardinals, blue jays, robins ... or the plain old brown sparrow that's hard to miss. ;)

Those Celosias are very pretty.

Yes, they are. I've seen those, but didn't know what to call them. I'm bad re flower names, too.

I have taken over 200 pictures in the last 3 days for VBS. It ends Friday with a big cookout and other activities. The worst thing about that is that I have to put most of them into a Power Point presentation by Saturday. We leave Sunday morning on our big trip.

OK, Mark, so what's this "big trip"? Don't recall seeing mention of it elsewhere. Does that mean you guys are returning to Hawaii?

Not this time. We will go back there either in the fall or next spring, if my parents return for another round. It is my parents' 60th anniversary (Sunday). They wanted the whole family to celebrate with them on a Caribbean cruise. We board Sunday afternoon and spend the next week at sea, and will go to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico. There are 14 of us going.
