Jim and I have been going through our old books. We have gathered many old Bibles and wonder if anyone knows of a place that can use old bibles? Any suggestions? We really don't want to throw them out - but we have no storage place - and we don't use them anymore.

The ministry I work for, Christian Literature for Africa, sends used Bibles to Christians in Africa. If you could get the Bibles to us in Fort Wayne, Indiana, we would send them on. If you have a lot of Bibles I could send you addresses and instructions on how to send the Bibles to Africa yourself.

To send a box of books by M-bag to Africa costs $1.00 a pound.

Please email me if you'd like more information about CLA.

Also, ask at your local hospital. One chaplain told me the other day that they can always use old Bibles because (PTL) people take them home with them!

If you have any prisons around, that is another idea. I used to visit a woman in a prison on a regular basis, and I wasn't allowed to bring anything in with me at all, including my car keys - they had to be locked up in a locker. They had an old copy of the Bible, but it was rare for me to get to use it. Pastors calling in prisons definitely need Bibles there.

Dear Jim and Carol,

Greetings with Philippians 1:3-6.I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. I am a Kenyan native missionary working in the villages of Langas in Eldoret Kenya.I came to learn about you through the Internet.

The aim of writing to you this letter is to request you to consider sending us some good used Bibles to our new converts in the church who might not otherwise be able to buy one.Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and that peace in believing, that you may abound hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rom. 15:13.We are praying for your ministry.

Shalom,

Pastor John Oboyo Njoni.

You may also want to check with Walter Thompson. I know that the churches down south lost most of their Bibles and hymnals in the Katrina disaster.
