Virginia and I spent 7 days in the great northwest. We saw our son-in-law pinned by his wife, our daughter, for his next rank. It was an impressive ceremony with the base CO, Exec. Officer, rigional Chaplain, plus other Navy chaplains in attendance, as well as the Command Master Chief.
They took us to the base exchange and uniform shop. I got some sweatshirts and t-shirts that I will enjoy, both Navy and Marine.
We took a car fairy across to Seattle and enjoyed the air museum and the area. No, we did not take the time for the Needle. We are more interested in nature things, which is where we spent most of our time. I have some great countain and forest shots, eagles, star fish of red, pink and blue when the tide was out. Words fail to describe what the hand of God created. We will have our passports next time and maybe make it to Canada. The sound has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Thank you for your applause. We enjoy the GREAT NORTHWEST year round. Would have been glad to have had you stop in Boise, but you probably flew.

My family was blessed to have had the opportunity to spend 12 years of my naval career in Washington’s Puget Sound. (Ten year on Whidbey Island and two years in Bremerton.) Even though I love the beauty of the Idaho, it fails to compare with the North Cascades, Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and Olympic Peninsula.
The reason I referred to my family in the above paragraph is because a great deal of the time I was as sea.
Thank you for sharing your impressions of, what I consider, the most beautiful part of the United States.
P.S. The next time you MUST bring your passport and visit beautiful British Columbia.

I am sorry that Linda and I were not there to greet you. We are in Colorado.
You said that you took the ferry (I hope you meant "ferry" and not "fairy") to Seattle. That means that you must have driven to Bremerton across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. If so, you passed only two miles from our home in Gig Harbor.
You got a glimpse of why we choose to live in Gig Harbor.

William,
Glad you enjoyed your trip to the NW. We've had a longest, coolest and rainiest spring in all my years in the NW. It is good that you visited when the weather is finally breaking into summer!
Yesterday I fished for sturgeon in the Columbia River. Today I worked outside around home. Some folks from the church came this evening to take a hike with me.
Have a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!
In Him,
Wes

My husband and I will be travelling to the NW this Fall and will be in Washington October 1 - 8. We plan to spend a day and night with my Aunt in Tenino and then travel to Port Townsend (Fort Worden) for a weekend reunion. Spending Monday in Port Townsend and Tuesday on Whidbey Island leaving Wed. for home in Montana.
Is there any restaurant, coffee place etc in Port Townsend or Whidbey Island that we need to patronize? Any recommendations for sightseeing. I am waiting for confirmation of reservations at the James House in Port Townsend and the Eagles Nest Inn in Langley.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Many years ago the "Captain Whidbey Inn" near Coopville was very good; however, who knows what it is like today.

OOPPS!!! Don't you just hate typo's! I had a good laugh in reading your post. I'll have to read with a bit more clarity before I post. You are right, it was a ferry.
