The Message of the Church as composed by our Ministerial team:

The message of the church is that through the cross and resurrection of Christ, there is the potential that by God's grace through repentance, faith and devotion to Christ all humanity can experience a deep inner transformation through the indwelling Holy Spirit, initiating the restoration of the image of God in us, and this transformation frees us from the guilt and power of sin, moving us into a growing, holy, loving relationship with God and other enabling us to walk in love as Christ walked.

It has been printed in our bulletins and is designed to give a statement/message to members, constituents and visitors. Can you compose a one sentence statement of the church's message in one complete sentence?

Ephesians 3 touches on the purpose of the church - through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known - the mystery that was revealed is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

The Message of the Church ...

Look at it as if its a mission statement - make it with very few words, or no one can remember it and it'll be worse than useless. Which is why I appreciate the new CotN mission statement!

Try this:
The message of the church is that God has provided the way that we can be fully reconciled to Himself, and live as we ought.

I know it leaves out much important qualification - which should be subsequently included in

another type of statement that elaborates the details, and then
another type of statement that specifies activities that church leadership intends to take to implement the details of the mission.

As I recall, "Simple Church", which is reviewed on NazNet, offers guides and examples for developing such a progressively detailed structure. Its advantage and purpose is to make sure that the mission (message) is known by all ... and serves as the functional benchmark for any and all activities of the church.

We are rapidly moving towards something like this:

Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving our neighbor as ourselves.

We have: Be Christ to the world He loves.
